[COR Jul FB3] The Recruiting Sergeant

Recommended Posts

In colonial Jameston, the Corlander Army seeks to fill the ranks of the regiments stationed in the New World by recruiting from the local population. A specialist recruiting Sergeant has been brought in from the mother country to extol the virtues of joining the glorious ranks of the red-coated regiments. "Sign up now, and receive 1 whole doubloon joining bonus!" cries the Sergeant. The patriotic citizens of Jameston enthusiastically respond. With the war in El Oleonda in full swing, soon the authorities have enough men to form a whole battalion! Long Live the Queen!

Some may recognise the façade, it's shamelessly recycled from a GoH build with some minor modifications. The colouring and texture just fitted Jameston so well I saved it for just such an opportunity! A small scene raising 90 men in Jameston... because sorting out the troop numbers for the July spreadsheet made me want to raise some troops of my own! The drummer technique was borrowed from Jackdaw2211 here.

The house/façade looks terrific! I like the use of olive green in combination with the light grey. The texturing and mottling is also nice, not too much or too little.

The drummer steals the scene though. Very cool! Is the rope an official Lego rope?

Don’t think the wrought iron balcony rail made out of the wand sprue works, but every thing else is gorgeous.

:pir-oh: Words cannot mask the lack of patriotism on behalf of Corries! They are even buying their Sergeants instead of summoning them to duty!!!!!!!! :iamded_lol: :roflmao:

An olive building!  Looks fantastic.  Really nice drummer minifigure too.

Nice build! I like the use of antenna plus the wand thingy, the colour and pattern variation on the wall look good too, and where does the red shako comes from? I can't remember having seen it in any set, a new piece?

Aha okay. Shame you had to cut it though. I thought it might've been the shortest length of official rope with end studs, but that would probably still be too long to get this result. I've also seen dummer figures using rubber bands to attach the drums.

I think using Harry Potter wands instead of billy clubs as drumsticks would also look good. They are slimmer and more akin to actual drumsticks than the clubs.

Blackdeathgr is correct, I got it a couple of years ago in a Lego book they had at Audi. Here is the Bricklink link.

That's brilliant, I don't know why I didn't think of that, they would be so much better as drum sticks - thanks!
