By looking at your other mocs, it is doable but for a smaller one you will need wedges so maybe a lot of system bricks.

It's a nice idea. If it's doable or not you only know after you have tried.

I think the tricky but would be getting the incline on the channels within the cubes. Also, LEGO balls may not have enough weight.

Can it be done in LEGO? Almost certainly. Though it might need to be at a different scale.

But regardless, that's a pretty neat machine.
