[GBW] Island Rush - Plighia - 1 of 4: Not A History Lesson

PREMISE (not count for scoring, it only counts as the background for the overall story )

The "Golden Lion" aircraft carrier strike group, consisting of the aircraft carrier, an amphibious assault ship, two cruisers, two destroyers, two heavy cruisers, a support ship and a submarine, having been stationed for days outside the territorial waters of Burke Atoll, he sneaks in taking advantage of the night, entering the C1 quadrant, thus starting the invasion of the island.

The actual attack began at 02:30 am: a shower of cruise missiles is launched from every ship against every position on the ground, and against every enemy ship, known to intelligence, plus the Golden Lion launch a drone armed with a special jammer capable to interfere with enemy radars, avoiding a rapid counterattack by them or by rapidly identifying naval and air units. In a few minutes a newly identified enemy destroyer, which was converging towards the fleet, was sunk, while other missiles successfully added and destroyed most of radar positions, anti-aircraft and missile batteries and bunkers along the coast.

At the same time, fighters, UCAV drones and troop transport helicopters are launched from the Golden Lion and the assault amphibious ship: they head to the coast, while their safety is guaranteed by the escort of air fighters, to unload platoons of soldiers who will have to take control of the coastal sectors to ensure the landing of land vehicles. Several helicopters point to the C2 quadrant, to the Maybury Ruins....

 

Not A History Lesson (main story)

...Cpt. Gabriel Parm: "Comrades, this will not be a walk or a history lesson, the Maybury Ruins are a very important site to be conquered, it is worth the success of the entire operation. I remind you that there is much more at stake than the safety of the our citizens that we have to help here in Burke Atoll, so get on your nerves and give it our all".

Cpl. Trevor Lounghe: “From the premission briefing, it seems that the enemy fortified the ruins, but that only placed a small number of soldiers to defend them, I wonder where he concentrated his forces, and what they are really plotting”

Sgt. Brian Weisley: “Do not be fooled by the number of their forces, they have had weeks to organize properly, a tough task awaits us to free this quandrante and allow the landing of our vehicles. This is only the beginning, the most difficult part will be to help our citizens in Saint George.”

Helicopeter pilot: “We are in sight of the destination, prepare for landing”.

Cpt. Gabriel Parm: “Here we go”...

...Pvt. Francis Coal (take position at helicopter side gutling gun): “We'll cover you!”

Cpt. Parm: “Go! Go! Go! Take position, take cover!”

Cpl. Lounghe: “It seems that our raids have succeeded in trying to break down their defenses, their antiair missiles station has been torn down, excellent!”...

...Lt. Lena Bishop: “Go on like this! Their resistance falters!”

Sgt. Weisley: “Argh! I have been hit!”

Pvt. Desmond Poulsa: “We are taking the ruins, the enemy backs away!”

Cpt. Parm: "Inside the building! Launch some flash and stun grenades!"

Cpt. Parm: “The enemy surrenders, cease fire! Tell the DEM that we have prisoners, their knowledge and what we will find in their computers will tell us more about what they are doing here in Burke Atoll”.

Judges’ comments…

Great Build(s). The microscale naval spots were very well done. Particularly loved the missiles off the cruiser and the drone off the flight deck. Regarding your full size build, this was nice too. A few points to work on here: Capturing the darkness a little bit better- the images were a little hard to make out so play with your picture editing settings. The helicopter looked a little bit squished and we did not get to see too much of it proportionately from the photos. Overall, very well done!

Pros: -microbuilds and minibuilds are nice, especially the aircraft carrier -You used well the map information in your story. -The "GLA was here" sticker is a nice touch following the landmark of the map

Cons: -There is just one picture with normal light. The others are too dark (i understand you wanted to show night) -The ground is kind of empty. -The helicopter is probably a nice build, but there is no picture where we can see in complete

Suggestions: - When you want to show night, do the opposite. Just one night photo (reduced visibility or green from night vision gogles) and all the other photos in normal light so to show as more as details you can from your build - Even in a desert ground, try to use some plates in same colour (2x4, 2x6) scattered around and many 1x1 plates in same and in one or two similar colors. In this case, you could use dark tan and reddish brown
