I don’t get that, in what way does Mario replace HS? It’s just a theme that starts the same year another one ends, that’s like saying that Minions replaced Toy Story 4  Besides, it is well known that the Mario theme has been in development for multiple years, potentially longer than HS

Idk, I just saw that Falconfan posted an image saying that

People are just making "Mario replaces HS" memes on Instragram to joke around, it doesn't mean anything. There is no connection between the themes, app or not. HS would have continued longer if it performed better.

Ooooh, I see

Not sure if anybody cares, but my Mario Starter Set preorder from Target shipped today, so I should have a it a good 10+ days early. Glad I went with Target instead of S@H for that one.

Cool. The app probably won't be available until the official launch, though.

Good point, although at least there are building instructions online. Hopefully Mario doesn't need to sync with the app to work out of the box.

I'm pretty sure the app also keeps track of your scores, and allows you to share them.

Hi, can anyone tell me based on experience which store’s online preorder will be most likely to ship before the release date: Walmart, Barnes & Noble, Best Buy, or Lego? And also, does anyone have any experience with buying LEGO from a website called Scheels? Thank you in advance!! :pir-wub:

Does anyone know how the rotating feature on the Boo tower in Bowser’s Castle is built? It’s interesting and I want to do something similar in a MOC. I hope it doesn’t require specialised pieces.

I know this is unlikely and im definitely getting my hopes up, but the set was called "Toad's special Hideaway" not Toad's Special Hideaway Expansion Pack. maybe there is a chance its minifigures. (I could also just be remembering wrong and it did say expansion pack)

FYI: I'm not interested in this theme, but I thought I'd let others know that I saw Mario Toad polybags at Target yesterday.  They were already on the shelf, though I did not scan one to determine the price.  @ Mt. Pleasant, Michigan

Cool.  I'd be interested to know what this one is.

I'm not interested in most Mario Sets, but I'm interested in the NES Set and am debating picking up a Mario just to go with it.

Spotted a bunch of the Mario stuff (including the starter pack) at a K-Mart here in Australia. Grabbed the Paragoomba, Bob-Omb, Blooper and Spiny polybags and I like what I see (and the polybags were pretty good value at the A$5 price I paid for em :)

Loving the theme but I can't justify buying the starter pack or most of the expansion packs at the price they are selling for... (I have no interest in messing with the Mario figure and I dont have a phone that can run the app)

Yeah? Where in Australia was this? I’ll go see if my local one has any tomorrow.

Sorry about your phone, but quick update for everyone with a device that can run the app; it’s available, at least on iOS in Australia (and America too). It doesn’t appear directly on the App Store, you need to scan a QR code in the sets, but I managed to trick my device into installing it by pausing one of just2good’s videos when he was showing the instructions on my computer, screenshotting and blowing up the QR code, then scanning the screen with my iPad and following the link.

I ordered my Starter Course and the Monty Mole/Mushroom GWP months ago at a local hobby store, and I’m definitely looking forward to picking it up, hopefully next week. Can’t wait!

This was Indooropilly in Brisbane.

The sets were on the K-Mart website but have since vanished.

Okay, so I had an idle thought after noticing that the two spiky tufts of fur on Bowser’s head are on a 2x2 area, but can anyone think of a good way to give Bowser a moustache? Because now that I’ve realised how easy it would be to put Mario’s hat on Bowser I kind of really want to make a Super Mario Odyssey-style Mario-possessed Bowser.

Here is the QR code for those that one to get the app early. I had to select the barcode scanner function in the camera on my phone, it wasn't automatically identifying it as a code. But it was easy to scan once I did.

The hidden micro Mario level, the sheer volume of desirable parts, and the fact that I've already ordered the starter set, have me seriously tempted.

Check out Brickset's review of the NES: https://brickset.com/article/52670/review-71374-nintendo-entertainment-system

Two highlights:

  1. The set only contains three stickers (two for the cartridge and one for the info on the back of the TV, which is funny because both of these are also stickers IRL). So many awesome prints :wub_drool:
  2. This hidden level on the back of the NES:

This is simply amazing. You can feel the designers' love for the NES oozing from every corner

So I received and built my Mario starter kit yesterday, thanks to Target preorder. Some first impressions:

  • Mario is a little smaller than I expected. The eyes, mouth, body are definately one big screen. The graphics and sound effects are well done. But it is really kinda creepy how he looks when off, with the hollow eyes. I was wrong about Mario getting dizzy if you fly him all around, it seems there is no restriction unless you scan a tile for one of the challenges that involves not falling off of something. He does react to jumping motions but there is no negative reaction for unrealistic motions.
  • The app is nicely made, it is cool how the building instructions are 3D and you can rotate the steps. BUT I find it quite annoying how the instructions are divided into each little section of the build, so you have to keep going in and out of  the instructions view. Also for the starter set at least, it gates you into doing the first few instructions and trying out Mario with it connected to the app, before it lets you access the rest of the steps. I think this may be only for the  starter set. I may just use PDF instructions for other sets once they are all up on LEGO's site.
  • It's great how everything is printed or the pre-applied decals, which seem quite durable. The new parts like the warp pipe, the enemy feet, the shells are all well done.
  • I tried to reproduce the special interactive barcode stickers, without success. I tried taking a photo and using a scanner, and got pretty good images of them. But printing them out with a color laser, on glossy or matte paper, I get no response from Mario. I have one more thing to try which is using my photo printer. I thought it would be good for MOCs if those decals could be reproduced.

I've never purchased a set right as it releases on Shop@Home. What time are sets typically available online in the US? Really want to make sure I can snag the NES on Friday night.

Usually right at midnight but it could be a few minutes later. Definitely start refreshing at 12.

Also this is for the east coast, im not sure if its different for west coast. I would assume it is.

I've noticed there's just a few things missing and that includes a second controller, power adapter, R/F Switch and AV Cables!
I've started making my own! ;-)

How are those two floating orange tiles attached? I can't tell what part that is under them.

I think it's one of these attached to one of these on the back.
