Mister Phes

[MOC] "Armada Cove" by Jason Brown

Beautiful. What could've, should've, would've been...

I'm counting 9 minifigs and a skeleton to go with 3 cannons, shark, parrot, and monkey. That sounds really good!

And it shows what's possible with classic designs, without using the raised baseplates.

Yarr, this be lookin' better all the time, me hearties!

The Armada "faction" was really just an appetizer. Something like this was just what that lineup needed. I'm liking it better than the old raised baseplate sets.

Quite a fun design! The raising gate for row boat access is a great touch. What part is being used for the bars there? It looked like the arched gate door at first, but there's no middle studded section.

Oh, yeah. I'd buy this :)

It's not quite the same, but it still reminds me of a time when Lego designs had much fewer and often much larger pieces but sets looked cleaner.

It does indeed honour the design style of the sets released in 1996-97, although this MOC is a bit more robust.  The sets of that period were a lot more economical with the part count and tended to look some what flimsy.

Nonetheless, it does fuel the speculation of what could have been, had  the LEGO Group decided to continue Pirates a little longer an expand upon the Imperial Armada sub-theme.

What a great set!

Lots of great little details, and would fit in with all the older pirate sets.

Oh I wish Lego would bring the line back properly.....
