Spike prime/essential/C+ angular motor disassemble

I get spike motor and want to know how to work it.

It's nealy impossable to disassemble without breaking. Even shaft is strangly locked to upper parts.

Back part(dark azure), number 39546

Motor, circuit board, wire and wire clip(don't have part number here)

2 stage planetary gear reduction(I don't count gear tooth)

Some massive bevel gear

Magnet encoder shaft and upper parts, number 39544(can't disassemble more so can't fine shaft part number)

Lower part, number 41775

Motor assembled with planetary gear and other basic thing

Motor is same size with PF/C+ L motor, train motor's internal motor. Bigger than 130 used in M motor. according to motor size, I think spike medium motor use 130 like M motor.

connect shaft part to base motor part.

But according to strange connection of under part, You nees motor part put in to under part first. If add upper or lower part like this picture, you can't put under part.

Can you make and post very good pictures of the circuitboards?
So we can see chip numbers, wire connections etc.
This to figure out how they ID this motor and control it.

Not if you want to keep everything mechanical (like me). Also, can't be connected to 9V train power supply with standard wiring so it will be eating away batteries like crazy on an event day.

No number on cable retainer?

Azure shaft can't be disassembled, but on your image 3.jpg I faintly see something on the side of shaft that could be the part number, can you have a look?

This shows the current limiting device of the motor. Holds unlimited time at 0.5A, trips above 1A.

Can't find any number on cable retainer also don't have number on side of shaft.

Maybe or maybe not.  We've already been using Mindstorm for ages.  Its motors have encoders.

I was gonna say.

Plus: The LEGO rotation sensor did and does a reasonable good job as encoder on RCX PBricks. Used it before for PID controlled trains (https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/45440-lego-train-control-using-rcx10-pbricks/)

The integrated encoder is much more elegant of course. So when @dr_spock refers to "Mindstorms", any "dumb motor + RCX rotation sensor" as well as the NXT and EV3 motors did/do that.

This is the result of the 1kHz frequency of PWM (pulse width modulation) used to regulate speed of motors.

Hello, I am also interested in the operation of this engine.
The magnetic sensor I think is "bczm 513"
The other chip I think is "s103 phvg 008y"

Wow. C+ anguler looks has same internal. where are you find part number on wire clip?

Looks, that there is no place for Motor and planetary Gear itself in "old" Design like M- & L- angular Motors.

Maybe the RI hub could be used with its rechargeable battery, not sure though if you can run it while plugged in. (I guess I'll have to test this...)

I finially got one of essential's small angular motor so I tried disassemble it.

Before read

WARING

I 'm VERY not recommanded dissassemble this. Because magnet for angle sensor is not fixed to shaft. I assemble it after take photo but I don't know this magnet poistion is right.

All part for motor. I can remove white gear from external shaft but didn't. And those shaft looks like impossable to disassemble.

Part number

Upper part(shaft assembled part) 63565 (you can find number through main 3x3 disc shaft's hole)

Under part 65028

Cable connected part 65029

Bottom pic of board. Rightmost chip is magnet sensor for encoder.

Gearbox assemble. This contain 4 gear.

Enclose gearbox. I haven't fastened the screw yet.

Top side of gearbox. That small exposed part of last gear is connect with external shaft(medium azure)

Fastened screw and put to upper part of motor.

Place magnet. Like I said before, I don't know this is right angle. And that is why this motor has only one side of output unlike medium and large angular motor.

Place circuit board.

But before put board, you need to put cable connect part(medium azure) to gearbox first. And if you not care for motor wire, it will pinch to between upper part and cable part.

After that, now you can put under part.

Thank you for these photos, it's interesting that this motor doesn't seem to use the planetary gear reduction unlike others.

I assune, that there are used the same chips (uC : STM8S103F3 marking "S103" and unknown 3D-Hall) like in other PU-Motors.
Can you confirm ?

They say it's for low torque applications, now I see why. That motor is tiny!

Very cool part though, will have a lot of uses in small RC MOCs.

Did you see a clutch of some type? I think that the motor contains an internal clutch as protection.

I think it's probably because the small motor's internal gear ratio is higher than the others. Actually, if you turn each motor connected to the dummy battery box by hand, the LED of the battery box shines brightest when you turn the small motor. Although it has serious efficiency compared to others to use as a real generator, perhaps because the internal motor is small.
