[Custom CMF] Heroes of Mitgardia

Recommended Posts

I deeply enjoyed creating last year's advent calendars and sharing them here with all of you, so I decided to set myself a similar challenge : create a Mitgardian Custom CMF series.
But, in contrast to the advent calendars, I chose to follow strict rules - which are listed in the spoiler section below.

Spoiler

Rules :
- 16 minifigs, like official CMF series
- No accessory bigger than a LEGO mountain bike, the biggest accessory released in an official CMF serie as of now
- For each minifig, no part showing skin of a different color than the head - even hidden under hair or a beard
- No inconsistency of printing style between the minifigs (ex : no mix between weird Clone Wars heads, overly cartoonish Mighty Micros heads, stylized Disney heads and more realistic heads)

Now let's get to the heart of this topic (warning : long post ahead).

Heroes of Mitgardia
Note : the spoiler sections contains a back view of each minifig.

1. Völva
Mitgardian seeresses are renowned all over the Guilds for their clear-sightedness, their wisdom and their knowledge of powerful rune-based spells.
Inspired by the Norse Völur (sing. Völva).

2. Elite Marksman
It is often said that dwarves lack the necessary finesse and precision to be good archers. Funnily enough, those who have encountered dwarven crossbowmen rarely say so.

3. Pathfinder
Even in the thickest fog or most violent blizzard, Clan Lands pathfinders always know where they are and where they go. It is said that this uncanny sense of direction is due to sunstone, a magical mineral they always bear as a talisman.
Inspired by the Viking sunstone theory

Amazing work!  I love how you are so detailed with small items and have a great sense of coordination.  You must also have a large library of minis to work with, as there’s a number of pieces I have never seen before in there!

These are all great.  I really like #6,7,8,9,10,13,14, and 12.  You have a good knack for creating interesting minifigs.  All are very nice idea's and combinations.

@Zilmrud Thank you very much!

@Grover Thank you so much! And, ahem, yes, I do have an unreasonable amount of minifig parts. Ever since I came out of my dark age, I've been amazed at how fine and detailed they are now compared to the ones I played with as a kid! :wub: Same with animals and printed elements...

@Henjin_Quilones Aaah, should female dwarves grow a beard, or should they not...that may be one of the most serious societal issues faced by modern dwarven communities.

@zoth33 Thank you very much!

These are terrific combinations, really well-integrated, and I like your little blurbs about each character.  Nice job incorporating Norse influences and existing lore from GoH!

SUCH an inspiration for all of us depicting Mitgardians in our builds.

The use of Chima torsos is phenomenal, here. Each minifigure is very unique on its own and perfectly fitting in Mitgardian settings. The Pathfinder, the Marksman and the Ice Mage are three of my favorites.

Absolutely beautiful choices, Lady Aurore. Keep up the good work in expanding our Mitgardian Encyclopedia.

Skol!

@Louis of Nutwood Skol! Thank you very much, I'm really glad you enjoyed the fig - and hope they could indeed be useful when other Mitgardians would like to populate their MOCs… :sweet:

OMG, these are so nice. Just started the interest in Medieval moc building, so most of the parts are unknown to me. I'd love to buy a box of these CMF series :)  If only Lego would just bring back a Castle theme ...
