If Lego did want to put the COS under the Great Hall set, they could have the Chamber itself be under the hall, while the entrance with the snake door could be under the tower portion.

I love this part of Lego rumors,  when we can dream of the sets we want!!

Magical times!

Hopefully any future COS set would include a rocky outcrop exterior, this would make the perfect base for the existing Hogwarts sets. Something many are already adding to their custom displays. They could then continue the design with other dungeon sets (Slytherin common room, Philosophers Stone chambers etc). Adding a complete lower level to Hogwarts would eventually give a nice "raised up" look for the main part of the castle, similar to that of the UCS.

Only problem is parts like the lake part on the great hall and archway on the whomping willow would be in mid air, so the boats couldn't dock and the car couldn't drive through. Nothing is impossible though.

I just got the Harry Potter and City advent calenders for £16 on ebay, I'm really excited to see what we get next year. My guess is if it is based on PoA and GoF the trio will be in Hogsmeade outfits and the Humpback Witch statue will take the place of the Architect of Hogwarts, with lots of Hogsmeade and Yule Ball minibuilds and three extra figures.

One set that hasn’t received a lot of attention as a possibility for the second wave is the Shrieking Shack.

The original set from 2004 was a nice build that gave us Sirius as a dog and Lupin as a werewolf. It even came with a little Honeydukes storefront.

Given LEGO’s apparent affinity for all things Hogsmeade as indicated by the winners of last year’s holiday scene contest (https://ideas.lego.com/challenges/fa395293-eda9-4603-83cc-aac44c1052cb?query=&sort=top#search-app), I think the Shrieking Shack has a shot.

It would also offer some nice playability with 2018’s Whomping Willow set, and complement last year’s Prisoner of Azkaban sets.

I also think there is a very good chance that the Advent Calendar will be Hogsmeade themed this year (I’m picturing a background illustration of the snowy rooftops as they appear in the Wizarding World theme park), and that LEGO will save the Yule Ball as a theme for next year.

I think we’re all just skeptical that Lego will muddy the wave even more by putting a set from a fourth different movie in it. After all, 2018 had 3 movies - SS/PS, CoS and a hint of PoA, 2019 had just 2 movies - PoA and GoF, and so far we’ve got 3 movies confirmed for 2020 - OotP, HBP and a single backtrack to CoS. Number 4 Privet Drive also has the benefit of featuring in OotP, and I suspect the CMF will give us the last notable characters we need to finish the scene with the advance guard escorting Harry from his relatives’ house at the beginning of that movie. So not only do I not think it likely we’ll get another backtrack this year but I doubt it would be as niche as the Shrieking Shack (there’s also little incentive for Lego to make a big set like that with no prospective exclusive minifigures - we aren’t going to get Padfoot or a werewolf in the Shack again with Lego’s current devotion to screen accuracy, so I expect them to wait to revisit that particular location again until the current run of PoA sets are ready to retire). If you want Lupin’s werewolf form and Padfoot I think we’ve got a much better chance of seeing them in this year’s CMF.

It did receive tons of attention for the second wave? People wrote page after page about it. With the current third wave however, there really isn't that much of a need for the Shrieking Shack anymore as we received all variants besides werewolf Lupin, who better fits in a cmf series because of the molds.

That's hardly an indication. It's just a holiday themed Harry Potter build that won in a holiday themed Harry Potter contest.

I am referring to the second wave for 2020 - the two sets slated for August release. And I would argue that LEGO considers more than just minifigure variants when deciding which building sets to produce...

I would also argue that the winners of the LEGO Ideas contests are quite a good indication of where the company’s mind is at.

For example, one of the winners in its 2018 Harry Potter contest was a beautiful Beauxbatons carriage that looks almost identical to the set that LEGO released in its second wave for 2019. (See here - https://ideas.lego.com/challenges/642ce72d-0872-48ef-a27b-a6bbeecc9027/application/dc7d1271-53bb-470b-8211-a9890ad90374)

Either way, the Shrieking Shack is not a set that is on my personal wishlist, I am just trying to read the tea leaves and predict what is possible.

I also think, and I’ve said it here before, that if we follow the vehicle theory (2x per annual collection), that there is a good chance we could be getting the Durmstrang ship instead. 2018 gave us the Ford Anglia and the Hogwarts Express, 2019 gave us the Knight Bus and the Beauxbatons Carriage, 2020 is giving us a rerelease of the Ford Anglia, which leaves one vehicle slot open...

But this idea has been shot down by the “experts” on what is possible here before, too. I guess we’ll have to wait and see who is right, and it’s always fun to theorize in the meantime.

I am pretty confident, though, that the smaller of the two new sets will be a Battle at the Ministry of Magic build. Here’s hoping that we start to see some leaks soon!

I don't think that contest prompted lego to release the BB carriage. The design process of most sets takes more than a year and there were only 11 months between the start of this contest and the release of the BB carriage (taking in mind you have to add production time to the time it took to design said set). Ofcourse it could be possible, but the only way I could see this being true is if the set was a last-minute ''rush design'' like the Advent Calendar.

As for you Shrieking Shack suggestion: while I'd definetely like to add the SS to my setup someday I must agree with @Accio Lego. If they really wanted to make it they would've done so last year, so we'll most likely get it when/if lego does a re-run to fill in the gaps they left the first time around. That isn't to say it can't happen ofcourse

I think it's because it's been mostly assumed that Lego has moved on from the first three movies and the expectation was that this year would be OOP and HBP sets. Obviously the idea that a Privet Drive set is coming which may include the Ford Anglie and COS minifigures negates that idea, but I get the feeling that is what has put most off from speculating that we will get a Shrieking Shack. That and the fact that the confirmed sets so far are lacking in Order of the Phoenix or Death Eater minifigures, so it would seem logical that the last two sets cover those minifigures and so they are maybe a Burrow and Ministry set. Lego does not always follow what logic would seemingly dictate though so we could all be wrong. :classic:

but with 100s of characters in the books how do fans keep up with whos missing in minig form

It's not that hard as there haven't been that many HP sets and most fans tend to ignore the first waves of sets as those figures all had yellow faces. And if you're invested in a certain franchise/universe it's not hard to remember characters from that universe

There’s a reason I have the DC character encyclopaediae and the comic book database app on my and even then there are huge gaps and I can only remember so many before my brain pops.

I'm invested in a fair amount of franchises. Mostly Wizarding World, How to train your Dragon, the Jurassic franchise, MCU, Star Wars but some others too although a lesser extent.

For some reason I have never really had much trouble remembering characters and events from any of those franchises but remembering things like formules etc in school we're a pain.

I guess remembering things I actually enjoy is just much easier than remembering something I heavily dislike :shrug_oh_well:

Totally agree with that, I know I sucked at schoolwork but excelled at my pastimes. I fear this may be an age issue, as ten years ago I had little issue knowing my DCU. However they have the cheek to keep adding people and writing new stories

I just have one of those memories where names stick like velcro so I never have a problem remembering with either HP or Star Wars which characters have been made in minifigure form and therefore which ones are 'missing' so to speak. But if you're new to collecting or find it difficult, or even just want to formally keep track of what you have, then Brickset provide an excellent database where you can see all the minifigures that have ever been made in a certain theme and you can tick off the ones you have and the ones you don't.

Same here. When you’re really into something you just develop a knack for knowing which characters have/haven’t been made or which buildings/vehicles have/haven’t been made. 7-8 years ago the Star Wars line used to do some neat posters with all the characters from that wave on them as a kind of checklist.

For sure. I hated reading books in school, but now that I can pick what I read, I love it. Being invested & going back to the subject time & time again certainly helps too.

Hay guys I got board at the weekend and had a play in LDD. This is how I would do Norbert the Dragon if it was in this year’s Advent Callander:

That's a really cute build. Didn't even cross my mind they could include Norbert in the Advent Calendar, but it's probably the perfect location now that we already received Hagrid's Hut. Fingers Crossed :excited:

Those sets does not look the same at all to me. Based on the same source material yes, but completely different builds.

Do we actually have any confirmation on what the two final sets are?

We only know one of them is $99 and that’s it.
