Sharing my high quality vector art reproductions of old sails

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'd like to share something I've spent many hours creating, high quality vector art of sails from a bunch of old pirate ships. I sell preprinted laser cut copies of these on my eBay store: https://www.ebay.com/str/okbrickworks, but I am offering the art here for free for adventurous folks to try themselves. They will not be possible for most people to recreate at home due to the fact that they're printed fabric. But I guess you could always print them on paper? Anyway, feel free to check them out. The filenames should be fairly self explanatory I hope.

@legoman666 I already know the answer as we talked about it in PM but for general knowledge . . . are you willing to do custom work? Say that I wanted the armada sails with the crest from the imperial trading ship for example?

Yes, I will do customs. The only stipulation is that if you want a custom shape, you have to provide a vector based file. I can handle the art or mixing and matching the colors.

Added:

6057 Sea Serpent

6281 & 6296 Pirates Perilous Pitfall / Shipwreck Island

I also have the outlines for the Queen Anne's Revenge ready, but don't really know how to do a good job on the background.

I am currently rebuilding my Imperial Flagship from 2010 (set 10210), but unfortunately, the sails it came with are beyond repair... Do you, by any chance, have the vector art for those sails? I would be very grateful!

I haven't done those yet because the prices for originals on BrickLink were still fairly reasonable at last glance. Although I'm looking at the prices again and it'd run around $60-100 for a full set if bought from US sellers. Maybe I ought to take a look!

My goal with selling the laser cut replicas and sharing the art is so people can relive the classic sets. They were a big part of my childhood and I hope they were and continue to be for other people as well.

Excellent! Thank you!

Would it be possible to make a Spanker sail too in the Imperial Flagship sails?
I understand that this would be much more difficult.

Like the one here:

Added 10210 Imperial Flagship both to my pdf resources and to my eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/303548944697

If you add a spanker sail for the Imperial Flagship I will probably buy it immediately ;)

Is there a file for that somewhere? More or less impossible to redraw that to scale just from the photo. And it would be for 10210, not the Barracuda?

Feel free to use my measured files which are from the scanned sails of the new BSB. Alternatively, I can combine both for you guys, whatever floats your boat!

Thanks for sharing!

And great work. I will be buying the BSG Viper sheet from you eBay store, but I also want to know: do you offer custom print services by the way? Like if I provide you with an artwork for stickers, are you able to print a sheet? PM me.

@legoman666

This is amazing! I recently lost all my pirate fabrics and your store sells all that i have lost. This is almost too good to be true. Thank you very much for doing this!
