Topic updated... it's a completely new version of the Rennegade Runner. Just the Hull Parts and the Figure up front, also the mini figs are the only parts kept from the original one

P.S. also the way up to the stern and the cannon balls are from the original one.

All the rest are different or new lego bricks.

I decided to go brown with one ship to see how realistic compared to most real pirate ships I can get.

My son plays it with a lot of fun. He build a pirate forbidden island by his own, with the "brother" of Ironhook, Captain Pegleg and his "undead" pirate officer.

Cool little ship - I can definitely see the inspiration but it is still unique. The original had the same chubby look with those wide tall hull pieces for such a short length, and all the sails carried far forward! :) But it makes for a very playable set - and it seems like your son is making the most of it! :D

And fun little scenes!

Thanks. Yeah as I mentioned in other posts I love our big four ships.

I love the details of the flagship with the kitchen and grilled chicken and fish, the piano inside the cabin, the ship is outstanding.... also is the Black Seas Barracuda as it never loses its magic after 30 years.

But my son had trouble with the collapsing front of the flagship while playing or front masts and stuff falling down of the other big ones when he moves and need so much space for it.

With the smaller ships he is sailing through the whole room making wars and gold rushes.

With the big ships only come into ending a "confrintation" between other ships.

He can put the small ships into the ports of Eldorado Fortress and his own Forbidden Island and they fit, the big ships are way too big to fit into the ports of the sets.

Now as we have smaller ships he and his friends are 100% just playing with them leaving the big ones for me, or forcing me to play with the big ones as they still love them and want them to join the game.

It's real fun but the most important moment is when he is happy and his eyes shine like stars when he is sailing with his ships...

Thanks...

I have another reboot of this ship, turned it totally from a sloop into a caravel.

I am very glad about the front as all lego sets have the same fronts, except the 96 series where they totally left the front sails out, it was always the same triangle from of sail.

I did this ship inspired by the "Santa Maria" the  Flagship of Columbus. I am not a fan of the not for real first to spot America, he did not even know it's a new continent he thought he was in India, that's where the name Indians for native Americans comes from.

But do love his ship...

And the front is pretty close to the original one in small an less sails and masts.

If you turn the pole wherethe chain is clicked on, the front sail turns and you can turn it sideways... or you can stick the front sail to this stick for stability and playability.

My son tried it out. He kicked it light from the side and it fell sideways to the masts and flipped over. But it still was intact! That's exactly what I wanted to do. A beautiful small playable ship that is stable enough for sea battles played by 5 and 6 year old children.

I think my inspiration was clear, and in my opinion I get the most out of the possibilities.  What do you think any advises to get it even more close to the real ones?

(Except of the sails it still has to be a pirate ship)

I love the old parts and mini figs too. But to be honest most parts of the reboots are new lego parts. These brown parts did not exist during the 80s. So some of the Lego Technic stuff that is needed to make the poles look like masts.

Here is my last reboot as my son found some awesome parts that made me make the ship even closer to the real Santa Maria.

Mist funny thing is that Maria is the name if my wife and his mother.

Here is the final reboot:

We made up a whole story around the ships, with the main roles the smaller ships. That's why in our story we have more focus on other Captains...

Caribbean 1715 and before ... Captain Roger and his Crew, his officers Brickbeard, Ironhook and Pegleg, had purchased a big two Mast Ship, Redbeard's Runner, to rob Spanish Ships and steal their Gold. Roger was known for hide his Gold for the future...

One day Brickbeard traitored Captain Roger by selling the Information about the Location of the Ship to the Admiral of the British Flagship, Nelson. Admiral Nelson immediately sailed to the place and sunk the Redbeard's Runner.

Roger flew with Will and others to Port Royal and took his hidden Gold to buy one of the biggest ships of the Caribbean, the Black Seas Barracuda. He swore revenge to Brickbeard...

The brothers Ironhook and Pegleg flew to the Islanders and their friend, King Khauka gave them some of his Gold. Ironhook bought the old Santa Maria, the legendary ship of Columbus, and became Captain Ironhook.

His Brother Pegleg bought a small island and build a base on it. They all swore revenge to Brickbeard.

Brickbeard himself bought with the Gold from the British one of their War Ships, the Bounty, and made it Brickbeard's Bounty and he became Captain Brickbeard. He went on to trait also the British, French and Spanish by robbing their Trade and smaller War Ships.

The British was furious about how Brickbeard became an ice cold pirate captain and Sir Wellington invested his money into a new version of the Bounty. The target of Admiral Hood and Sir Wellington is to capture Captain Brickbeard.

The British small Flagship Sea Lion and its sloppy Admiral Woodhouse are in the Caribbean to escort important trade ships. But his sloppiness very often give the pirate advantages.

The British Flagship and Admiral Nelson are coming just to end confrontations between the two French and two English War Ships to decide the outcome...

The French Gouvernor Broadside is well known for making hidden deals with the pirate Captain Brickbeard and hunting the other pirates.

The French Admiral with his new Version of the Clipper is trying to find the traitor inside, not knowing that it is Broadside. He very often calms down confrontations between British and French War Ships.

I updated the ship a very last time, fixed the thin parts of the mast and stuff, these small changes make it look really good and realistic.

As almost all ships until the 19th century has been brown or black, from 1800 when also steam ships started to appear in that century hulls being white and other colours.

That's maybe why I never liked the Skulls Eye Schooner, as it's the most unrealistic ship ever, close to the Spanish Armada in white...

I get the point that children want big pirate ships, also the colours even if not realistic are attracting to children that age. My son's wish for his 6th birthday is the Armada Flagship.... As he wants more playable smaller ships. He likes the Schooner too but he wants a not that big one. He loves that crazy different colours on the ships. Oh and he loves the white hull.

But now the pictures of my anti coloful attempt to make the Renegade Runner finally the Renegade Runner Caravel 2019, won't change that anymore until somebody has a real good idea for my very limited parts.

Updated / 13. August 2019

My inspiration:

Schiff-Columbus-Nachbau.jpg

I have one final update of the final update... ;-) but now it really looks nice! Added one of my left out middle hull parts, to make the shape look more to a caravel than a cutter or a sloop. Than, thanks to the space, moved the mast to the middle of the ship. Now with that more space I could make up still a small but really nice caravel.

Started also to play a little bit around if I can do the stairs like on the picture... and I guess it's ok.

But please have a look yourself and tell me now what do you think:

As you can see... Captain Ironhook looks like Captain Roger. That's just because of my son wanted it. He said the ship looks so elegant and nice, so the captain has too got some nice clothes. He explains the change of style with the more gold Captain Ironhook have now :-)

After a "deal" with my son I was allowed to make the captain Ironhook Style again. But as you see I was forced to change the sails and the flag, not matching the hat now. But my son loves it like that so we keep that version now.

Hello again... today has been the day my son and me been at the Lego brick stone store here in Berlin. You can buy all kind of stones and stuff.

So while he bought a bag full of wall stones and stuff, I took some minor updates to the ship, still with the flags but also still with Captain Ironhook.

I tried to do the stairs as good as I could do, judge yourself

My wife had the idea to change up the wooden bricks with the fence that it matches the whole side of the ship, moving the wooden part to the back. Looks closer to the original one like that.

I hope that's it now
