Pure speculation based on previous years.

Townhouse Toy Store sounds good, hopefully in a similar style of the 2019 Townhouse, built on a 12x12 base, with around 3-4 studs of sidewalk, so 8x12 building/2nd floor. (technic pin connectors side of the walls to add more buildings side by side)

Even the alternate builds on the 2019 set use a similar scale + sidewalk and technic pin connectors, so multiple sets with alternate builds = large street system. And the alternate builds also focused on different businesses (Bank, Barber, Dentist), and hotdog vendor became fruit juice vendor. I do think continuing this system has good potential when alternate builds use the same scale/style and connectivity as the main builds.

Monster Burger Truck sounds odd, but a brick built burger on a food truck could be a cool concept, 499 parts sounds like more then enough to work with.

Sport car might be the followup to 2017 Green Cruiser (122 pieces), as in an open top car with room for a minifig (smaller then 2019 sunset racer)

Fire Dragon is similar in part count to the 2018 Mythical Creatures dragon (223 pieces), and there have been other red dragon sets before that.

Propellor Plane, and Rocket Truck might be microscale, similar to 2019 Helicopter Adventure and Spaceshuttle Transport, Rocket Truck might also be a car like the 2018 Rocket Rally car however.

Monster Truck could be a similar in style of the monster truck in the 2018 Stunt Show.

Townhouse Toy Store! I hope that it's close in design to the current Townhouse Petshop and Café. Or, even better, completely enclosed like the older Creator residential and commercial builds.

That typed - another toy store? How many pet shops, cafes and toy stores does a Lego city need? I wish there was a little more variety in the stores chosen for the Creator commercial builds. Of course, that won't stop me buying it and perhaps the toy store can be easily adapted to an antiques store or an ice cream store or a pharmacy or a book store or something else that's a bit more unique.

The "monster burger truck" will presumably be along the lines of the pizza truck from Lego City? If so, it sounds okay.

The set listings came out earlier than I expected! The only eye catching set for me would be the Townhouse Toy Store. The others sounds like reiterations of what they have done before. I do wonder what the Townhouse Toy Store would look like. I'm glad that LEGO Creator 3in1 is still doing building based sets, but I sure hope it's not one of those modular stuff.

Creator 3-in-1 has seen some unique shops in their alternate builds, especially recently with the 2019 Dentist/Hairdresser builds. (Which I have not seen in a City set)

Problem with some older alternate builds was that they used a completely different style or used only a fraction of the parts, but the 2019 Townhouse/Petstore uses a more universal system. (12x12 base, 8x12 buildings) across all 3 builds.

I hope they keep the 12x12 base and interchangable 8x12 floors at least for 2020.

I don't think they'll go back to the "modular" range of 3-in-1 sets, this is the second set with Townhouse in the name and hopefully uses a similar scale as the 2019 set.

I feel this system more closely resembles the style of Corner Deli/Park Street, with the technic pin connectors to the side being able to expand into a larger street, just without hinges, and a bit larger interior space.

While the 3-in-1 modular system wasn't bad (I have 1 of each set), it had flaws as well, and LEGO even moved away from the system with many of the alternate builds.

A more universal system where alternate builds are more useful/compatible with the main build I think is a plus for the 3-in-1 concept.

What are the chances of Lego doing a Ford Escort MK1 for the creator expert vehicle set next year?

I would think... low? When I think of iconic automobiles, the Ford Escort certainly isn't anywhere near the top of my list. Not an insult to its quality—I'm sure it's perfectly serviceable—but it just doesn't have the iconic, instantly evocative nature of cars like the Beetle, Aston Martin, Ferrari F-40, or Mustang.

To me, it seems like a better fit for the Technic theme rather than Creator, being a rally car and all. :shrug_confused:

It was possibly the first car of many people now in their late 40s - early 60s in the UK and Europe. Ideal for nostalgia, but probably too location narrow.

  • 31102 Fire Dragon (234 pieces)

I see TeriXeri has already noted it and I guess we'll have to wait to see what it is, but this one sounds a little boring given what is still on the shelves:

31073_alt1.jpg

Dragon, check. Fire, check. 234 pieces vs 223 pieces, so we can expect it to be the same size.

I hope it is significantly different as I like this set but don't think I'd buy another one with minor changes.

What if we're all thinking to small with 31104, perhaps it's a Truck made out of burgers driven by a monster?

Maybe it's a truck with a monster like sign on top, we already saw an UFO sign with the 2019 caroussel so a monster-themed burger-vendor doesn't sound too weird.

A big burger with eyes and a mouth that can open would be interesting, alternate builds could be potentially be a burger bar with a smaller vehicle, or something completely non-burger related and just some monster itself :D

The toy store sounds promising, the rest doesn't get me pumped. It all sounds very run-off-the-mill like stuff we get in City/ Ninjago/ Creator all the time already, i.e. replacing an older set with a newer version in different colors. For me it will really come down to how useful the parts will be for other projects before making any buying decision.

What about a pink 1959 Cadillac Eldorado?

Sure, that or a Chevy Bel Air from around then! :classic: Much like how the Creator Expert theme made usage of the Ford license from Speed Champions for the Mustang, Lego really ought do the same for General Motors.

I personally think for 2020, Creator should stick to wacky sets and expert Modulars. Re-route the 3in1 building production to City.

I'm hoping for some more "double licensed" set like the Aston Martin. My favourite would be a BttF DeLorean or the A-Team Van. KITT is also possible, since there are already sets with these IPs.

Toy Shop really?  They just released a Toy Shop in Doughnut Shop Opening #60233!  That certainly seems redundant...

City and Creator don't run parallel, and the Toy shop in the Donut opening set is like tiny compared to the rest of the set's budget.

If 2019 shows anything about the Townhouse/Petstore/Cafe build, and it's alternate builds (Tall Bank building, or street with Tram/Hairdresser/Dentist), I feel Creator has been a lot more flexible.

If the Donut Shop / Toyshop was like a smaller with just the 2 buildings for €30 or so, I might feel different about "another toy shop"

While in the past, some alternate builds have been pretty bad and small, recent years there's been some amazing ones as well.

My other theories suggest the Classic 1960s Batmobile or the Ghostbusters 2 Ecto 1A.

Right there with you on the DeLorean; it's at the top of my wishlist for Creator Expert cars. I know it was in consideration at one point, and maybe it can finally come to fruition someday.

I'm rather sure Lego's been considering such a set since their rejection of the LEGO Ideas project from 2014...

Ha, well Lego were to do such a thing, I'd dearly hope they fill those gaps they'd leave with some Raypunk Rocketcraft, Sky-Fi Warplanes, Steampunk Airships, Pacific Rim-inspired Jaegers, Decopunk Steam Locomotives...

I was actually referring to the fan poll that ultimately resulted in 2008's 10187 Volkswagen Beetle, so earlier than that:

Interesting that the others have all been made now...

Oh yes, of course! I so quickly forgot about that after being brought back up during last year's release of the Aston! :classic:

Yeah, it's also rather interesting that I myself hadn't thought of that fan poll in relation to this year's Mustang... :oh:

We will get a "UCS" Batmobile this year.
