CardinalBricks Posted June 3, 2019 Hello there. This is a MOC I made this winter break after deciding not to pick up the Betrayal at Cloud City set. I actually wanted to make this MOC earlier, but held off since there were rumors of a UCS Cloud City set for some time. When it was finally announced, I was very disappointed in what Lego came up with so I gave myself the go-ahead to start work my own version. I will start by saying that I'm not really proud of the exterior. think if I were to do the MOC over again, I would try something different. The Millennium Falcon-style panels don't work that well since they end up being completely custom from each other in an attempt to cover up the gaps... which themselves are created by the unevenness of the circle itself. And then you get this ugly top section with the undersides of plates exposed which really couldn't have been designed any other way given the constraints. Though I don't plan on redesigning it since, from any reasonable distance, it looks good and the shaping with the different planes of "discs" is on-point. That said, I am quite satisfied with my micro-scale cloud city on top. Here is a birds-eye view of the interior, my pride and joy of this MOC. It could be bigger, there could be more rooms, some of the existing rooms could be greatly expanded, there could be more of those iconic hallways, etc. But at the end of the day, I knew what size I wanted it to be and I allocated the available space pretty effectively as well as put in a lot of little details. We have the waiting room, the dining room, a main area with a connected hall, the junk room, the detention block, the freezing chamber, the storage hallway, and of course the wind vane. One other thing, the grey door separating the main area from the detention block is able to slide open into the junk room. Every image that follows is pretty self-explanatory so this is the end of my rambling. I may have gotten a tad carried away with the artistic photography and scene representations in some places, so bear with me. If you can't really tell what you're looking at within the context of the MOC, the above image should be useful. Thanks for looking! Comments, questions, criticisms welcome. marvelBoy123 Posted June 3, 2019 A great attempt at something so complex. The interior is great and I love the photo of Luke in that dark corridor - it is very atmospheric!

ProvenceTristram Posted June 3, 2019 Much better than the recent official release. I wish you could have done the exterior in tan, but my guess is the pieces weren't available?

I like it I actually didn't think do that until after I removed all the panels for the first time... it was a nightmare trying to figure out how they went... 47 minutes ago, azzer86 said: Great work. The official BACC set has tan and it didn't look right to me. 9 hours ago, Reaper said: Very nice build!
