After a thorough reading of the challenge rules, the Oleanders realized that their large ships weren't suited to navigate in shallow waters, luckily for them, not everyone in the colonies came from the Old World, some of the settlers used to travel in strange shaped boats, with rigid sails. Apparently their ships were designed for coastal navigation, which should constitute an advantage in the upcoming event. Consequently, these settlers of Loti origin were recruited by la Royale as legionnaires of the newly formed Foreign Legion.

The Legion is open to any volunteer who wishes to serve to under the flag of la Royale, no matter if you were a ninja or a fisherman.:pir-grin:

One particularity of this type of junk is it's propelled by sails and oars, like a galley.

Its hull also differs from the Halosian ones, especially the bow, it has a more angular shape.

An expert swordman has climbed on the top of the mast to have a better view.

Interesting design...

But that's a ship which arrived a little bit late I'm afraid.

Our minifigs back in the age of sails aren't supposed to have any modern means of communication, a letter would take weeks to reach the addressee, so a competitor arriving late could add certain degree of realism to the game, ofc, the fact they arrived in the middle of the race also means they won't be able to win any prizes.

Now that I'm on a PC screen and no more on my phone, I have further comment :

The hull shaping is awesome !

Are the row to be handled with hands and feet  ? (I saw such a row use in Myanmar - television report on lake inle )

No idea, although it requires a lot of dexterity when rowing with hands and feet all together, I don't know if it was a technique commonly used in ancient China, or Japan.

Thanks Thaum. The curve is achieved with shrouds.
