[GBW] - Media - Alsarh - Broadcast from Al Kuwem

Recommended Posts

We are broadcasting today from the port town of Al Kuwem in southern Alsarh (D2). The President is here today to visit the latest vessel in the naval fleet. The TPV Fortune is a high tech sloop-of-war, with the latest technology including a new form of sonar location and UAV that can take off from the back for reconnaissance missions. Despite its small size it is well armed with a front mounted machine gun and torpedoes while biometric doors prevent the vessel being hijacked by pirates. It will be used to guard Alsarh's waters, escort other vessels and aim to proactively deal with the issue of the pirates in the Isle of Rahz.

Following the recent terrorist attacks in Bandaud and New Brickia as well as the threat of the WDS, there is a strong military presence at the event today in order to ensure the president's safety. Luckily the ship has been moored in a quiet, upmarket area or Al Kuwem. The buildings running alongside the docks are the Jeberah villa (residence of renowned automotive engineer Petrov Czarin) and a large storehouse owned by a small group of traders from Toohati.

*Notes outside of news narrative - Al Kuwem is a trading town which was first found by merchants from Fulshako in the 15th century, who built a town inspired by the architecture of their home country. It was then ruled by Fulshako for a short time before being given back to Alsarh. Despite this it has kept its own culture, with traditional building styles from the Fulshako area and with its people following the Malsi religion. It is officially the special administrative region of Al Kuwem and is ruled by the Imam under the Alsarhian government.*

*Story outside of news narrative - The traders supposedly from Toohati would - under closer inspection - appear not to be traders or from Toohati. Though their property has a few crates of fish and spices within, it is actually the site of something far more sinister. There are five of them : two within the storage area one covering the window and the other the door, the third posing as a secretary has a full view across the street - watching for soldiers, the other two are concealed on the roof of the building - one with a sniper rifle at the ready waiting for the target to enter his sights*

And the president steps up onto the ship with his bodyguard... BANG! ...*The live broadcast following this is drowned out by screams and cries and the terrorists open fire on the crowd*

*The following is later broadcast* We are thankful to say that our great president was not injured in todays attack in Al Kuwem, his bodyguard received a wound to the leg but is being treated in hospital and likely to make a full recovery. The situation was handled effectively with soldiers storming the building and eliminating the threat before any others could be injured. The culprits behind the attack are unknown with no attackers taken alive or terrorist organisations claiming responsibility. Though police and military are making enquiries the perpetrators remain unknown...

Overview shots. (From two angles and so the motorbike on the left hand side can be seen in at least one shot).

This is now finished. Hope this is an improvement from previous builds.:classic:

Any feedback, tips or suggestions are welcome.

Judges’ comments…

Let me start by saying that the pictures are definitely improving. Still far from perfect but glad to see you're working on it. This was an interesting little build. For some reason it really stood out to me as a reminder of the ambush scene in Rogue One on Jedha. Overall, there was a decent amount of detail here. I liked the idea of running the different gray colors through the boat for the old school camo look. Only thing I'd suggest with that is to maybe round off the boat a little bit as it looked a little bit boxy. Nie job!

First, lemme say pics needed some work. Good solid dark background is fine, but those shots really needed some more light. And be sure to keep the light above as it will reduce shadows and dark spots. As for the build...Solid level of effort here, and good details. I think with a ship of that scope, if it were to be close to the shore, then I guess there really wouldn't be a sandy coast, but more a straight drop from the pier. Those boats aren't exactly done at the water line right? But, I really liked how cramped and crazy the scene on the dock/street was! lot's of people, lot of detail going on there. Good job!

Be Sure to Update Your AARs.

Thanks for playing!
