[MOC] Odense Banegård & modular platforms

Recommended Posts

Love the DSB version from the iconic VT11.5 . Great adaptation from Holger's creation (I have the 'non LEGO version myself' - I'm sure you know which one I mean), but there's something beautiful about 7 wide trains.

Next time you have the change, take some extra pictures to share with this bunch of train-freaks :).

Deal :classic:

The train station was shown to the public for a second time at Klodsfest 2022 - the annual event for our national Danish LUG Byggepladen (postponed twice due to Covid).

Very nice! Did the show go well? You don't have a loop of track, were you running open ended or just static with the trains?

Thanks. The show went well. Not many visitors though. Mostly an internal LUG event, only two days were open to the public and it didn't help that LEGO World Copenhagen was held during Easter too.

The train station was planned as a static stand-alone feature this time around but got connected as a last-minute decision (via the rail yard) to a large Moduverse layout with long double loop of tracks (R120/R104 curves in one end and R88/R72 curves in the other end):

I do not envy you and your friends who have to move that beast! but it is a beautiful piece. Do you have any plans to add an interior at some point? it would be cool to have a section  as a cross section!

Very nice layout. For such a high quality display it is very surprising that you had such a low turnout. Looks like a top notch presentation. I also liked the little 12v train with a public transformer.

Our annual event usually has around 1000 visitors per day but this one only had around 600 during both days. It had the usual 100+ LUG participants though and in that regard it was a success and what really mattered :classic:

Thanks. I had plans to build the interior when the project began. Structually the building is nicely prepared internally but except floors, walls and a few doors and stairs it's pretty much empty inside. Maybe some day I'll get around to actually design the interior digitally.

The train station was shown again to the public for a third and supposedly final time at the annual Danish Model Railroad Union event "Modeltog for Alle" held October last year in the city of Kolding.

The event was postponed for two and a half years due to Covid and the very same which was cancelled a few weeks before the station was supposed to debut.

After the event the dreaded disassembly process commenced

Fortunately the process has gone painstakingly slow with the station only partial disassembled because a few days ago the perfect exhibition avenu became possible - very much to my wife's chagrin

To be continued...

Thank you for the photos and videos.

Was there no way for your build to become a permant exhibit?

Either at the new station, or at the railway museum there?

The perfect exhibition avenue continued...

Our LTC (LEGO Train Club) Togklodsen has officially been invited to host an LEGO model railroad exhibtion at The Danish Railway Museum 2-5 June 2023. 5th of June being the Danish Consitution Day.

In my modest opinion the finest avenue possible and more so as the museum is in Odense, my city of birth, hometown for 40 years and situated on the exact opposite side of the tracks of Odense Banegård

dthomsen, any possibility that your station could be permanently shown at the museum?

And what locomotive is directly behind E 994?

1)  Low to none but who knows. If the museum wants to buy my station it's no longer impossible as all parts are mine now (a story for another day). The amount wouldn't be trivial though.

2) Not much can be seen in the photo so I can't really check out what locomotive it is. Sorry.

I think that Nr1, would be very nice, if it happened. You could ask? or if other arrangements can be made?

2) I found out! The locomotive is DSB P 931.

With the station rebuilt (and slightly expanded) in anticipation of the exhibtion at The Danish Railway Museum I had the chance to bring it along for another Danish Model Railroad Union "Modeltog for Alle" event as one of our centerpieces :classic:

Cheers for the video :)

I'll keep thumbs up, hoping that the Danish Railway Museum wants this station, permanently.

How did, or does, the camera locomotive look like?

Togklodsen’s LEGO model railroad exhibition took place at The Danish Railway Museum in the city of Odense, 2-5 June 2023.

The museum had around 1200 guests during the three days our exhibition was open to the public which is twice the number the museum usually has.
We had already been told that more guests weren’t their main goal but it was nevertheless very nice.

Even though the exhibition was taxing with three public days manned from 9-16 we all had a thoroughly wonderful time at the museum.

The exhibition was a huge success. Reactions and feedback from the quests and staff alike were phenomenal. So much so that the museum has invited us back next year

All in all, a truly satisfying farewell to my Odense Banegård moc and its long journey which began so unfortunately in 2020.

The train station is now in the process of being disassembled - for real this time - but the train platform will survive and go on being displayed at future events (maybe as part of a new smaller'ish train station).

Thank you for the photos.

RIP ;( Odense Station, in LEGO.

I wish there would have been a way to safe it, for display.

Atleast the real life old Odense Station is still there.
