[MOC] Midi Scale Trains

Recommended Posts

I built this for my "Midiopolis" topic over in the Town forum, but I decided to mention it here as well. :classic: The wheels are part number 38799 which at the moment is only made in white and is decorated for use as a tea cup saucer for a Harry Potter minifig.

Thanks everyone! I'm working on other trains as well in this scale, so I plan on turning this topic into a broad showcase topic for all my Midi Scale trains. :classic:

Would it look better with the wheels flipped to the other side so the "flange" is smaller?

At the moment due to how the model is designed, this isn't possible. However I did flip the wheels just to see how it looks, and I wouldn't personally say it improved the appearance. :classic:

Thanks! No not as much. :shrug_oh_well: I was more into designing the mechanical aspects of the monorails, and not so much the cosmetic stuff. While the latter has almost infinite possibilities, the former doesn't.  Also, I'm so satisfied with my First Monorail Design, that I almost don't feel the need to make any more. If however I get a new idea for a monorail, I'll definitely pursue that idea!

You might say that monorail fans have a "one-track" mind!

Sorry - I just had to.

I've given some thought into a 4 wide monorail, but didn't have much luck. Would love to hear your idea!

Check out the 3D View on Mecabricks!

This model would have been done ages ago had I settled for what I have now vs trying to place the details I've added in into more preferred positions and places.   But aside from that, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Also as mentioned earlier I've turned this topic into a broad Midi Scale Train MOC showcase topic so I can post all my Midi Scale Trains in one place in the Train Tech Forum. :classic:

3 wide trains? Who says you can't break the laws of physics? (you just might have to change your avatar though, grin) Very impressive work.

Some Ideas: the Big Boy, the Bi-Polar and the GG1 :)

They're so big that it could be really satisfying having them in a tiny space :)
