Capt Wolf

[ESL] Promotion to Admiral

Recommended Posts

Captain de Flynt was studying the sea charts for his upcoming trade mission when a knock at his cabin door interrupted his thoughts. "Come!" he answered.

One of his lieutenants entered the cabin. "We've received the post from the harbor master, sir. There are orders from home."

The lieutenant held out the orders, and de Flynt took them and broke the seal. He read them silently as the lieutenant wondered what might lay in store for the crew of the Espada de Luna. Theirs was the flagship escort of the largest Eslandolan trade fleet in the western seas, and Captain de Flynt had the temporary rank of commodore while he commanded the squadron.

"Well, lieutenant, it appears the Council is happy with our efforts. And these orders have reached us just in time."

"What is it, sir?"

"I have been promoted to Admiral, effective immediately. Signed by Secretary of the Navy Jerome Monezterrell himself."

"Congratulations, sir!" exclaimed the lieutenant, "but why do you say the orders reached us just in time?"

Admiral de Flynt studied his young officer briefly. "Have you not seen the other ships in port? There are two more vessels here flying MAESTRO colors. They intend to join our convoy. Without this promotion, I would have been haggling over command issues with the captain of the AQAR. Now I have clear authority to command the entire squadron."

"Ah, yes, of course sir! Good timing indeed!"

"Lieutenant, have my personal flag raised in place of the commodore's pennant. And tell the quartermaster to acquire the best bottle of wine he can find in port. We shall celebrate tonight!"

---

Just a little vig to promote Captain de Flynt from commodore to admiral, as necessary per the convoy rules.

Neat vignette. Love that angled checkered floor. Is that a paper/sticker torso on the left figure? Also, nice little read to go with it.

Thanks. I forget who I stole that angled checkered floor from, but when I saw it I knew I had to use it. And that is a sticker on de Flynt's torso.

How did you achieve the inner planking to curve is that just a camera trick?

Great little vignette...  Admiral...  Would be ashamed to loose a vessel under his new assignment  ... Perhaps your luck has turned this year?

de Flynt's custom torso is very, very cool. The classic Admiral's uniform looks fantastic in green and you can't even really tell it is a sticker. Great vignette Capt Wolf!

It's not a camera trick. The bricks the tiles are attached to are not fully pressed down so that the connections are at a slight angle, creating the curve.

Thanks! I always hoped Lego would produce that classic design in colors other than red and blue, but no such luck. I think I ran off a version of that sticker one each in a variety of colors.

You are incredibly good at those full-lego-mini-scenes. This one is no exception. Great work!

Thank you!

Thanks. It was my first time working with that diagonal pattern. Learned a good bit, and hope to use it again in the future.

The party was a private affair for the officers of Espada de Luna. Headaches all around this morning! :drunk:

I'm mildly surprised by the wonderful reaction this little build has gotten, as I was quite hurried on it. Glad to know I hit the mark. Thanks to everyone for the comments!

Nice interior scene, I like the tilted windows and the table, and as others said the floor looks good too.

Due to the response about the green admiral sticker, I dug through my bag of stickered soldiers and found these. I'll have to find a use for them sometime.
