Small island

Recommended Posts

Hi, this is a very classic and "already seen" theme of MOC but I wanted to work on the water so I did my first little Pirate desert island a few months ago.

I did not find a way to easily prevent the plate 48x48 corners to go up..

I had 2 x 6265 Sabre Island sets as a kid, and the shape of the island really reminds me of that 16x16 baseplate but scaled up.

Even the Small raft + Minifig reminds me of 6234 Renegade's Raft.

Overall it looks great.

It's fun indeed, but these are coincidences since I never had those sets. But, surely I have already seen them on the web and my subconscious has directed my hands :)

Regarding the minifigs and palm tree parts, they comes from sets 6260 and 1889 that I bought on Bricklink in order to make this MOC.

Hey! Beatiful. Keep up that good work

I love the view from above with the different colours under the water tiles.

I like the bird's eye perspective here. The water effect looks good, perhaps you could try wedge plates for a less uniform color transition. I'm missing greenery on the island. I know it's a sandy desert island but the palm tree could have at least some shrubbery around. All in all, I like the build also for the simplicity.

Nice MOC! I particularly like how the water changes color gradually.

In order to prevent the "corners going up" effect, you need to fully cover the baseplates you are working with plates (of at least 2 layer) or even better, with bricks (1 layer). That needs of curse significant amount of (blue) plates/bricks but you will have a very sturdy creation in the end.
