[MOC] ATSF Pullman Coach

Recommended Posts

I figured I should start doing cars. Since heavyweight trainsets by Pullman were (almost) interchangeable between roads, all that should be required to switch from railroad to railroad is a livery change. Just four more to go (baggage, sleeper, obs/lounge and diner).

The roof lifts off and there is an interior (although given that it's a coach, it's kind of boring - like 25ish seats and a bathroom at one end).

Looks great - you've captured the overall look very well.  Seems like it could use just a little more detail/texture on the sides, but that might simply be a couple of livery/line stickers.  Looking forward to seeing the other cars!

I'm not sure what else I could do with the sides. Because it's an older car, the sides aren't fluted (like they might be with a theoretical 1940s streamliner) - they're riveted. And there really isn't a good way to mimic that in Lego. Ultimately, I think it's just going to have to have stickers.

Maybe snot some plates on the sides, with the studs being rivets? Besides that I have no idea. Great build regardless!

Yeah, I do think that's all it needs.  Just a little something to break up the flat expanse above and below the windows.  This is one of those cases where it looks like it's too simple, but that's actually how the real-life inspiration is (minus the rivets).

Very sleek!

Not sleek, "heavy", sleek came with the streamlined cars that replaced these riveted heavyweights (grin) Seriously though, no matter what the adjective of choice might be, very nice.

Very very nice! To "lighten" the heavy roof, perhaps lower it by one plate? Or does that ruin the scale?
