Stiffness doesn't depend on width. Just look at 8862! There are 2 and 4 studs and all work well!

The modern tools would let him make it even slimmer!

OK, but you have to learn that if you have to complain on something you have to be in position to make it better to prove that it is possible and nut just to say this is wrong, or that is wrong...

Yehveh is an amazing detective and there's no cheating him. He discovered what I've explained right when this MOC was published, in the description at my website which  is linked to in the very first post. Quote:

Mystery solved. Stiffness isn't an issue here, and yes, the arm should be 3 studs wide (shockingly, I do use my own scaler tool), but a single pneumatic cylinder is simply too weak to operate the arm at full weight (there's a motor at the end of the arm and plenty of structure).

I see...now you can use universal joint from 42070 set I stead of 3 black gears 12 tooth double bevel at rear axle and redesign your Jeep; it is better late then never

No. The single 12 axle makes the chassis stronger overall.
