Hi guys!

Although it's quite early, people asked me to start my usual topic about guessing the entries for Series 18, which should come in April 2019 as far as I know.

So I've run so many times this game, and people liked it, so then here it is.

Please, it's a fun game but mind those simple rules so we enjoy it the most:

  • Try to be specific. "A headless horseman is preferered to some kind of man"
  • You can copy. If someone else's idea is good, no problem, put his idea in your list.
  • Sex doesn't count. Policewoman entry is valid for a policeman

I'll assign 1 point for correct answer and 0,5 point for nearly-correct answer.

This is my list and at the present moment, this time I am sorry but I have absolutely no clues for what lies ahead, so I'll be a neat player as you all are.

1) A firefighter. Again? Yes again. They'll end making one. Now it's really time to.

2) A shepard. I still belieme that they're making one.

3) An harpy. Oh come on! You really have to do it!

4) An haunted armour.

5) A cossack. Or some russian guy with a russian hat.

6) A circus acrobat.

7) A Shaolin Monk, like in Burdon's design

8) A minstrel.

9) A Basketball player. We really need one. Again. Again another time.

10) A pajama girl, like sleepyhead in series 6.

11) A majorette

12) A bottle-of-something-suit guy

13) A geek girl, like player#2 or similar

14) A steward / flight assistant / hostess. Again.

15) A ghost. Again. Again another time.

16) A female deep diver.

So now your guesses

And have fun!

If Series 19 were to again be a themed one, many of our guesses may be in vain. But, nonetheless, here we go...

  1. Aviatrix/Female Aviator (think Amelia Earhart)
  2. Locomotive Engineer
  3. Heroic Prince
  4. Sorceress (think Sleeping Beauty's Maleficent)
  5. Victorian Gentleman/Gentlewoman
  6. Galactic Overlord (more human than alien, with perhaps Blacktron references)
  7. Retro Space Heroine (a counterpart to the S17 Retro Spaceman)
  8. Frontiersman (think Daniel Boone)
  9. Dutch Milkmaid
  10. Oriental Emperor/Empress
  11. Bird Watcher
  12. Steampunk Cosplayer
  13. Superhero/Superheroine
  14. Adventurer/Archaeologist (think Indiana Jones or Johnny Thunder)
  15. Legendary Lumberjack (a.k.a Paul Bunyan)
  16. Firefighter

By the way @Itaria No Shintaku, I've never participated in one of these guessing games before. Is the sixteen figure, CMS-length list a mandatory standard? Can you make additional guesses after your initial post?

Actually it's better to keep the 16 initial guesses.
Because rumours spread and one could change the list according to the rumours.

This lineup would make me soooo happy.  So many monsters, fantasy, and historical figures.  Think I may steal some ideas from your list...

Here's mine.  I'm pulling from my own list of expected/desired minifigures, the designs we've seen, and some of your guys' suggestions:

1. Beekeeper - I thought of this one several years ago, it's just the type of figure that would be expected in a CMF series and I'm surprised we haven't gotten one yet.

2. Firefighter - I know, there are plenty of LEGO firefighters already, but never have we had one in the CMF (and we've had cops, knights, spacemen, and all manner of classic figures redone for the series, but no firefighters yet... it's time).

3. Golem - Long overdue.  Needs to happen.

4. Groom - We had the bride in Series 7.  A groom is way overdue.

5. Female Hippie - Another Series 7 figure who is long overdue for an opposite-gender counterpart.

6. Shepherd - Been on my list for a while.

7. Scientist - Inspired by Albert Einstein, we've seen designs for a figure like this, and we've already seen other CMFs clearly based on specific historical figures or characters.

8. Drummer - I'm a drummer, and we've already had several guitar players CMFs, it's time for them to get a rhythm section!

9. Basketball Player - It just makes sense, one of the few sports missing a CMF representative.

10. Undead Warrior - Like from Alex Boudon's designs... I have wanted this figure so badly since those designs circulated.

11. Dark Elf - Also from Alex's designs.

12. Voodoo Doctor/Witch Doctor - Would be awesome.  Enough said.

13. Snowman - This is one I'm specifically stealing from Robert8.  Fantastic idea, should have happened long ago.  We need a snowman with a face!  Even the snowmen from the winter village sets don't have faces!

14. Monster Bride - Seems to be a popular choice, and one that makes a lot of sense.

15. Alien Spaceman - Nearly every series has had a representative from the Space them, so why not an alien that has teamed up with the Spaceman and Intergalactic Girl of previous series to fight the evil aliens and wears a spacesuit with the classic space logo (maybe a red, green, or blue suit since I don't think those colors have been used for Space figures in the CMF series yet).

16. Pumpkinhead - What can I say, I love monsters and fantasy.  This is one monster that is easily customizable with all the pumpkin minifigure heads LEGO has made over the years, but one that has never been made as an official minifigure (not counting the Headless Horseman from Scooby-Doo).  I'm picturing a more traditional scarecrow design with a pumpkin head.

One group of archetypes I hesitated to put down for guesses in this game were seasonal ones, particularly for both Christmas and Halloween due to an interesting conundrum. With Series 19 rumored to be a mid-year release once again for the third series in a row, Christmas and Halloween archetypes haven't a proper place in the non-licensed line if we are to presume Lego will continue this trend of only one mid-year release for awhile onwards. Traditionally, Christmas and Halloween archetypes have been reserved for third CMS of any given year, right? :shrug_confused:

For Christmas I'd say this is true, but for monsters, not really. Zombie was in Series 1, released on May. Mummy was in Series 3, and that one came out in January. Werewolf, Monster and Crazy Scientist came in Series 4, released on May. Mr Good and Evil came in Series 9, released on January. So, we could expect monsters, but not Halloween costumes like Cute Little Devil and Skeleton Guy

Well, if Lego is going to seemingly insist on giving us only one non-licensed series a year, I hope they can at least schedule one for the latter part of that year to accommodate some Christmas archetypes. Particularly, I'd love to see some Dickensian Carolers similar to your designs!

Okay, let’s have another go.

Again I’m choosing figures with an animal mould, since this is a relatively frequent thing now, and I want more animals. That said, I think most of them stand alone without an animal mould.

1. Roman standard bearer, complete with gold eagle on a staff ?

2. K9 cop, police dog handler with a Doberman pinscher

3. Ocean warrior, merman warrior with an eel counterpart

4. ‘All Black’ NZ rugby player with a kiwi

5. Pioneer with a turkey ?

6. Dog groomer with a poodle ?

7. Park ranger with a squirrel ?

8. Victorian naturalist (think Darwin) with dodo

9. ‘Eskimo’ woman with papoose baby and a seal

10. Ranger figure (think Jon Snow archetype) with wolf ?

11. Snowman with robin

12. Canadian Mountie with beaver

13. Deep sea diver with blobfish

14. Beefeater guard with raven

15. ‘L’il Shepherd’ kid in nativity shepherd outfit with sheep ?

16. Statue with pigeon ?

Did you know there’s a politically correct term for “Eskimo”? I’m not really one for PC but the “correct” term is Inuit.

Back to the topic, I could really see 12 being designed and produced. I don’t see 8 being produced however. K9 cop is interesting, that would probably be reserved for City. Some interesting ideas here, good job @williejm.

Thanks. I deliberately used inverted commas there as I know it’s not universally agreed or accepted. Nor is Inuit, as I understand. I was aiming for brevity, sorry, rather than intending any offence. Anyway i’m assuming such a Minifigure would have a generic name like ‘ice tribal woman’

Don’t apologise. Also yes, I would expect a more generic name as well.

10-12 are pretty cool. I’d expect to see clothing from various different time zones for a time traveler, futuristic goggles, Victorian top hat etc.

16 would be pretty awesome, reminds me of Spider-Man Noir.

That description of the noir crime fighter is just superb! All you had to say was fedora and cape!

Not only does the archetype take inspiration from The Shadow (from whom Batman's character actually took inspiration from), but also The Gray Ghost, who takes inspiration from The Shadow, in turn acting as an inspiration for a young Bruce Wayne within The Animated Series.

A lot of your guesses are great, but I think your #8 is pretty well covered by the CMF Series 12 Hun Warrior. I know the Huns and Mongols were not the same, but the designs overlap a bit too much for the level of distinction needed for a CMF.

1) Masked Hero: like a few others' descriptions, a classically dressed character with a wide brimmed hat, masked face, cape, and weapon. Inspirations can be drawn from The Scarlet Pimpernel, Zorro, The Shadow, or The Phantom Of The Opera.
2) Gamer Girl: the female match to the previous male fig, with 'PLAYER TWO' printed on her torso. Hair/hoodie combo from the Ninjago CMF line, and oversized fist hand cover accessory with printing to look like the classic Nintendo gamer glove.
3) Firefighter (female?): fully decked out with long coat (printed version of the over the shoulders robe used previously), breathing gear, helmet, and fireman's pick (with the perpendicular heads).
4) Terracotta Warrior: see the drawing posted above.
5) One-Eyed, One-Horned, Flying Purple People-Eater, AKA Musical Monster: shaggy printing (much like the Yeti) on purple body, purple bat wings neck gear (printing?), lavender head with single eyeball and mouth print, shaggy purple hair mold with 3.5 mm pin hole, pearl gold unicorn horn, and pearl gold trumpet.
6) Civil Engineer (female?): white construction hat/hair, white dress shirt torso print, black leg assembly with detailed printing (keys/badge?), hip wear tool belt, orange 2x2 triangular tile with carpenter's square printing.
7) Pulp Hero: bubble helmet (2 piece existing mold), coifed bright yellow hair (Superman hair reuse), ray gun (chromed?), bright red Flash Gordon style body printing.
8) Wastelands Adventurer: bare torso with chains 'suspenders' print, brown leg assembly with chain mail skirting print, shooting crossbow with ammo, and brown top hat.
9) Gumshoe: classic trench coat (print) and fedora look, revolver type pistol (overmold?), and white 1x2 tile with notepad printing.
10) Vegas Stage Illusionist: flamboyant costume using sparkly prints and printed cloth, and a white tiger cub.
11) Anime Fangirl: sailor schoolgirl type printing (pink & purple on white), pink plastic skirt with purple plaid printing, stockings leg printing, pink and purple pigtails with pinhole, trans-pink crown pin attachment, and trans-pink scepter.
12) Dark Elf: R. A. Salvatore's Drizzt Do'Urden as a template, with two of the Ninjago scimitar type swords.
13) Mounties: classic Canadian Mounted Police, with cuffs, and 2x2 tile with a bear face wanted poster printing (think Yogi Bear).
14) Parade Drummer: green and gold fancy printing, shako in green with gold printing, white wand set as drumsticks, and waist wear drum kit.
15) Big Ben Costume: just like it sounds, with reversible head (clock face/fig face)
16) Robot Helper: leg assembly with two robotic legs (Monster Fighters) in pearl silver, red roller skates, tutu in red, pearl silver torso with maid uniform style printing and red hands, and a horizontal cylindrical head with antennae and feminine face print. Yes, this is a total riff on Rosie from The Jetsons.

Well, now that we know Series 19 won't be seen for April/May after all, a presumed autumn release date in lieu of a summer one can accommodate those Christmas and/or Halloween archetypes more easily. :classic:
