Apr.14 2020 finalized

Dear friends, here I would like to post my finalized LEGO Star Wars Clone Trooper BARC Speeder, as usual, previous MOC design post records had been folded at the end of this post.

Since last MOC built of my BARC speeder, almost 1 year pass. Recently TCW S07 is on show and LEGO announced 75280 BARC and AT-RT battle pack as well. All these delightful things encourage me to finalize my BACR speeder MOC evolution tangle.

Some time I just stared at the 3D model for quite a while, couldn’t figure out what’s myself prefer...

During my MOC polish, there’s very good inspiration from Flickr ID Luca (a.k.a Luca s projects) BARC-speeder with sidecar (https://flic.kr/p/2gDHfAr ) . Especially in our domestic forum, a fan (贴吧用户_5AeVAaG) work out the front engine’s turbo feature within limited space.

The key trick of front engine turbo feature, is the MF tool screw driver as below, for sure, per suitable color, 93094 Lipstick is also working fine.

Since early of this year my AT-RT MOC evolution, I decide to abandon MF riding position, which need to disassemble MF legs, I knew lots fans feel bad on it, thus, now MF legs print is presentable

To ref. the BARC Speeder database (by unusualsuspex, on deviantart), here I built this 15 stud length BARC speeder, if as normally count 3 stud = 1 meter, then just fit the MF scale :)

Benefit from the radii of 26047 part, the sidecar is rotatable to display the scene from TCW S04E11.

To duplicate myself BARC and AT-RT battle pack, here I combine it with my AT-RT MOC, and a fun of “fake news” leaking box is coming :p

49773918902_bc98bffe2e_b.jpg

Also plus one more couple of BARC and AT-RT, it upgrades toward an “Kiros battle pack PLUS”, LOL

With color scheme modified, easy to gain an EP3 91 Recon Corps BARC version.

47963047358_5576625bc0_z.jpg

It's compact enough to be loaded in LAAT/i now.

And original post was folded as below. Please feel free to share your opinion, and let me to know which one is your prefer. Your comments are appreciated.

Oct. 2018 modification

Spoiler

Dear fans, here I modified the title for the progress update. Later will make a build instruction video for each of speeder bike and share the link here. The original post will be quoted below.

With friends' kindly comments, I built the 91st reconnaissance corps speeder with dark red color schemes, and a female JEDI speeder bike refer EP3 as well.

In EP3, I considered that female JEDI looks like JEDI COUNCIL MASTER Adi-Gallia, but TCW showed her was gone... any way her speeder bike looks like Z-4, not sure but just MOC a suitable one.

Referring EP3, the moment just seconds before Order 66 on Saleucami, here's my scene recreating working in process, and for you fun :)

And EP3 scene is attached below as well

Again, any comment and advice per the MOC or Recreate-scene are appreciated, they will help me to polish them better.

Sept. 2018 first try

Spoiler

Dear fans, I knew there're hundreds MOC or official sets before me, and they are really good reference, especially my friend @bricksboy shared one 7913 set during my tour in LEGOLAND California. Base on it and thank to many MOC in the forum, I'm working on my design with those new function bricks. Some piece parts are still on the way yet, but I can't help building some ver0.9 prototype to share.

Though my target is to recreate the Saleucami scene of EP3, but TCW S02E10 also on that plant.

The more I look at it, the more I like it. But they look more grey than white in the actual scene, so I would swap the white for LBG

Thanks for your comment and tried with my inventory of 194 - medium stone grey (sorry, no 208 - light stone grey any more), for your reference.

But for my later 91 reconnaissance corps' bike, I would still think white is more closer to EP3 version, what do you think?

Pardon a silly question, but why does one of them come with a sleeping pod? :D

Its a scene in the Clone Wars where Rex gets injured and thats a stretcher where they transport him in.

Image result for 91st reconnaissance bike@JoeChu1980if you look at this pic the troopers are white but the bikes are in a darker shade, so I'd say LBG if you want to be accurate. You could also add a some foot pedals and take note that there is also an air intake thing at the bottom. I hope this helps!

I kinda disagree with Bonks, I wouldn't add foot pedals since the minifigs are sitting instead of standing. and pedals can look out of place.  Additionally, I think I prefer the skis to the rounded slopes as the vanes in the front, but that's my opinion!  I'm also neutral on white vs lbg, I think either would be great.  Who knows, they might've been white when they rolled off the production line!  Overall, great MOC, you really did well on the narrow profile and color blocking.  You may have taken inspiration from lots of others, but you produced something great!  "If I have built better it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants"! :)

Thank you very much for your detail comments, and yes, I would waive foot pedals idea, since I would occupy those location for extending function, will post MOC pic once some piece parts arrived;

And yes, I designed the skis in LDD, but for now they are lack, will try and compare later.

From the databank pic, I also prefer the bike with white color, and understood weathering makes them look different, just like I used to make/paint plastic scale models.

Yes, you are correct, just count, I referred more than 10 BARC speeder MOC in out forum, and 3 sets' instruction as well (7913, 75012 and 75037), definitely can't make it without those good MOC reference, especially a MOC from @KielDaMan

about 15 studs of my MOC, and I duplicated both your WIP and mine into LDD, for your reference. BTW, actually I more concern the width, from TV or movie, it looks like about one person's width, that's why I always try to MOC within 3 studs.

<snip>

Well there are the engines on the back of the speeder and those two pieces represent them very well. That was actually the source of my idea. I also don't have a large stock of extra pieces so building things can be very challenging if you don't have the right parts!

Extending function per BARC speeder is coming! For representing S04E11 landing battle on the planet of Kiros.

The more function, the more fun!

Are those bikes all built from spare parts? I don't seem to have half the pieces to build them, do you break down sets to build them?

I had 7913 and 75037 sets, but those sets could provide several piece parts only, most of them are from the piece parts market base on the BOM of LDD, such like bricklin or ebay, in China, it's Taobao.

Bought sets alway for MF, few official design statisfied me directly, normally they are too casual, :iamded_lol:some time I even suspected LEGO designer means to do it, to keep the improvement space for fans' MOC, and they actually had best feature / structure already.

@DrMuttonchops an even compact design just be done, hope you enjoy.

Darn it Joe, you've done it again! It looks better than ever, and I LOVE that it fits inside an LAAT! Like Reaper said, the handlebars are great, but what did you do to get the minifig attached to the jumper? The modified legs work great.

I really prefer your return to the ski pieces instead of the curved slopes, and the change from the spear guns is great!  The new bar instead of the curved slope definitely matches the source, and the coloring is as good as it gets without custom stickers!  The front cheese slope doesn't capture the intake perfectly, but I'm at a loss to think of any piece that would work better.

Great job overall man, I love it. :)

Dear friend, always thanks for your comment and suggestion, sorry for abandoned ski pieces, its length is a little bit large. And for the front engine turbo, there's a feature was figured out, update at the top of this post.
