Reluctantly allowing the Lady Tisha and her bodyguard to accompany her, Fel heads to the meeting that she had set before ever heading off to Kaliphlin. When one plans a trip to the Sunken City, it pays to have a guide...

42090393570_686b5c709c_t.jpg "You're... not what I expected."

43675285334_85e4899ba2_t.jpg "What were you expectin', a Deep Elf? Fah!"

Before them was a gnome and while it was true that many gnomes called the Sunken City and its cavernous surroundings home, Fel had never seen one with quite so crazy a look in his eye.

29275249817_31430ae372_t.jpg "I think he's neat!"

43675285334_85e4899ba2_t.jpg "That's 'cause I am neat! Name's Fizzum and there's no kids allowed in the Sunken City!"

29275249817_31430ae372_t.jpg "That's silly. What about gnome kids!?"

43675285334_85e4899ba2_t.jpg "Fah!"

42090393570_686b5c709c_t.jpg "Anyway, what guarantee do we have that you know the way to the ruins I described in my letter?"

43675285334_85e4899ba2_t.jpg "I'm here, ain't I? Good luck finding anygnome else to take you that far out."

42090393570_686b5c709c_t.jpg "Hardly a guarantee, Fizzum."

43675285334_85e4899ba2_t.jpg "Well what guarantee have I that you won't call your cousins to mug me, Ms. D'Gatto? Yeah I knows who you really are. I knows people!"

42090393570_686b5c709c_t.jpg "But that's not really a sec--"

43675285334_85e4899ba2_t.jpg "Further, what guarantee have I that this child won't wander down the wrong tunnel to pee or chase lizards somewhere she oughtn't?"

29275249817_31430ae372_t.jpg "Grumpy."

28959531827_afe7858522_t.jpg "I'll thank you not to speak to her that way, Master Gnome."

43675285334_85e4899ba2_t.jpg "Well, lookin' at you at least we'll have some protection from the dangers of the deep place. That's something."

28959531827_afe7858522_t.jpg "Thanks?"

42090393570_686b5c709c_t.jpg "I can handle myself too."

43675285334_85e4899ba2_t.jpg "Fah!"

42090393570_686b5c709c_t.jpg  "Is that 'Fah yes I'll take you' or 'Fah no forget it'?"

43675285334_85e4899ba2_t.jpg "I been paid, ain't I? No Fizzum's ever gone back on a contract and I won't be the first. Here, spit-shake on it!"

29275249817_31430ae372_t.jpg "Ew."

With the bargain struck, Tisha and Arrea took their leave while Fel spent some time thinking and drinking.

44392552411_97fcc80d01_c.jpg

42090393570_686b5c709c_t.jpg "Hmm, someone else I didn't expect."

43675286304_878b3fede2_t.jpg "I'm always a surprise. A pleasant surprise!"

42090393570_686b5c709c_t.jpg "I'm sure that's what you tell yourself. And everyone else."

43675286304_878b3fede2_t.jpg "I missed you too, Felissa!"

42090393570_686b5c709c_t.jpg "Don't call me that!"

43675286304_878b3fede2_t.jpg "Sorry, sorry. I've been hearing that name all afternoon and it's hard to shake off."

42090393570_686b5c709c_t.jpg "Ugh. I was hoping I could slip out of Illaryian without her knowing."

43675286304_878b3fede2_t.jpg "I get that but what about me, dear sister? Had you spared no thought for dear Kassaro?"

42090393570_686b5c709c_t.jpg "I was planning on stopping in when I came back..."

43675286304_878b3fede2_t.jpg "I'm touched. But you'd better go see her before she sends Stena."

42090393570_686b5c709c_t.jpg "Pfft. As if Stena would set foot in here."

43675286304_878b3fede2_t.jpg "Haha! She'd tear the place apart."

42090393570_686b5c709c_t.jpg "I suppose I shouldn't keep mother waiting if I plan to leave in the morning."

43675286304_878b3fede2_t.jpg "Where are you headed this time anyway, sister?"

42090393570_686b5c709c_t.jpg "It's fascinating, actually! There are these artifacts, but they're really one piece, and if I can find both I can prove--"

43675286304_878b3fede2_t.jpg "Ugghghghghgghghgghggh! I'm sorry I asked."

42090393570_686b5c709c_t.jpg "--fine. I won't tell you then. See you around, Kass."

44392550401_012c672b56_c.jpg

It had been months since Fel had last seen their mother and she wasn't looking forward to the meeting. The same old lecture...

Builder's Notes:

Spoiler

-Just a small one this time, it's Halloween costume season and I'm teaching myself how to make stuff with EVA foam. Next chapter will be another smaller vignette but I'll probably do an exterior for that one.
-I should have taken more pics with the conversing characters' faces visible, but sometimes I over-rely on the dialogue mugshots and forget that I'm introducing characters who haven't been seen from the front!
-Gnomes haven't been explored a lot on GoH that I know of, so I'll be taking a lot of liberties with at least the clan that Fizzum is from. I will lean heavily on World of Warcraft and Dungeons and Dragons gnomes, I think.
-My flooring technique is adapted from one I got from ricolego, seen here.

Nicely done, both build and storywise! :pir-sweet:  That floor technique works amazingly here, and the signs and tapestries on the wall are great as well   Also some pretty sweet fig combos there!

Great little scene.  The door is really good.  I also like the floor and the long table.  Also the story is well written.

Great scene @mccoyed! Lots to like here, love that floor technique and good use of printed tiles as decor. I like the story technique showing the portraits of who said what, it really helps understand what's going on.

Is the sunken city the one where the elves live? I thought some might have crept into this build.

I like the dynamic you have going on between Fel and her family, the underlying antagonism suits Varlyrio well, I look forward to seeing how that develops!

Great little scene you have here! Great story and it´s nice to see the figs faces when they talking!

What piece is the towel the fig is using to wipe the glass?

I think the Sunken City is a bit of a subterranean area where a bunch of critters, including elves, live.

Thanks DG. The piece is one of the snap-launch "powers" pieces that have started showing up in superhero sets. This particular white one usually comes with Spider-man as a kind of "web blast" piece.

Nice simple build of an interior.  It serves its purpose well.  I love this continuing story.  Very intriguing.

Nice work!

Its simple, its good, its perfect! The floor pattern defenitely works out, and as dG pointed out that little piece of cloth/superhero material is a great detail

While the build is nice, I think the highlight here is definitely the figs. The barkeep and the waitress are excellent, displaying lots of character without having to do anything. And the web blast as a towel is a nice piece use, which I shall have to remember for a future build. Glad to see the story continuing on, and I look forward to the next installment!

Great detail!  Love the floor and the use of printed pieces for the wall hangings and window.  The photography is great, too!  The closeups are a lot of fun, and the white spiderman web shooter for a bar rag is awesome!  I am entertained by the story and am enjoying seeing where this family goes. :-)

This story just keeps getting better! Perhaps Lady Tisha has met her match in Fizzum

The floor technique is nifty, and I like how you used tooth plates for the overhanging tablecloth on the bar

Thanks. I write periodically in my spare time and have always felt dialogue is one of the parts of writing fiction that I enjoy and comes most naturally to me.

Thanks. I think my photography is leaps and bounds beyond what it was when I started out here. Especially since I learned to use photoshop. :P

Thanks SK! And yeah, expect to see Tisha and Fizzum bouncing off each other as the adventure continues.
