RichardGoring Posted June 1 Oh wow! I was being relaxed about the fell beast, as it's in a retail box, so thought there would be more of them. Anyway, slept through and woke up in the US at 6:30, when I ordered it. Still in stock here though, fortunately.

Altair1 Posted June 1 I am just curious, why do some people still go through the hassle of queuing in actual stores to get their set? It is so much easier online.

I want to get it day one and it feels more of an experience to wait in a line. For me it’s a tradition now. Seeing the set in person right now and it’s so much bigger than expected. I was skeptical when I saw Rivendell for the first time as it didn’t seem like a 500 set but this looks like a beauty
mirkwoodspiders Posted June 1 Sitting outside my local LEGO store here a little more than an hour before opening. I got here about 2.5 hours ahead of time and there was only one other person. The LEGO store employee tipped me off to an open loading dock entrance you can use to access the inside of the mall and wait as early as you want. 2.5 hours early was a little ambitious haha. There are only 8 people here at the moment, but I expect the line to extend the closer we get. The store has 30 GWP and probably something close to that in Barad-Dur models. Altair1 Posted June 1 But you take the risk of missing the GWP this way, if there are too many people in front of you at the physical store... It is much safer to order on lego.com, I never missed a set or a GWP I wanted in 15 years of ordering Lego online. You just need to do it as soon as the set becomes available. I had to stay awake till 1am last night, but it was worth it as the Fellbeast only lasted a few hours before going out of stock.. .

unclejeffie Posted June 1 I wonder of the gwp will be back in stock at 4 june
Lordhelmet Posted June 1 Just built the gwp, I like it a lot more in person, really solid, feels like that made up for the lack of one with Rivendell. The build was good, it looks good, the big wings make it and it is built for display. Only improvement would have been adding the eyes.

LDM Posted June 1 Wish the main set had a tiny fell beast that could fly around the tower. Even if not true to scale.
Eurolock Posted June 1 Had no trouble picking up Barad Dur and the GWP at my local store. Turned up 10 minutes before opening…queue was only about 12 groups of people. The customer in front of me bought both Rivendell and Barad Dur for her husband. She was shopping alone too. Must have been fun carrying those back to her car, one in each hand. Shroffy123 Posted June 1 Picked it up and the gwp today. Huge line at my local lego store. They were stocked with 70 barad dur, so wasn't worried about not getting one. Saw alot of people leaving store with the big box, but also alot of people in line for the new HP and Disney sets.
petero Posted June 1 It looks like the Fell Beast is now sold out online in the US, at least the Eastern time zone. It no longer shows in the GWP window on the Barad-dur page, and the Fell Beast page says "Not currently available". It was still available about an hour ago. LDM Posted June 1 Walked into a Lego store in a Canadian mall this afternoon. They said they had a line up this morning, but have plenty of sets still. Behind the counter there were still 20+ GWP. I ordered at midnight, but was surprised to see so many
RichardGoring Posted June 1 It's definitely store specific as there are reports of some stores having lines before opening that were so long, that not everyone got a set or GWP. What ridiculous price are people now putting on the GWP on eBay? If this one of those instances where you think it's better to sell it so you can buy all the prices to increase the tower height? And possibly make the wonderful MOC that Hachiroku24 did on YouTube?
Lordhelmet Posted June 1 Hopefully the quick sell out of the gwp drives some thought for Lego to produce a witch king set. That GWP is excellent and with some extra push (new prints, new mold for witch king helmet, something extra for the fell beast head) you could have an excellent $40 range set. That would sell well. I think it will only drive them to come up with another great GWP to go with the Minas Tirith set coming up next year (I am calling it) !

Are we going to be locked into just large D2C sets every year or so? I mean I would buy it. But there has also been so much clamor for smaller multiple sets. Perhaps Lego could consider a year of a large D2C alternating with a year of a wave of smaller releases. I know they have said just prior to Rivendell release that they will only be going with large D2Cs, but perhaps the reception might change their minds? Rivendell is a tough act to follow. It has great appeal even to occasional fans, and the minifig selection is just amazing. Barad-dur will do well but like many have said, perhaps not as great as Rivendell. Balrogofmorgoth Posted June 1 Stood in line this morning and got Barad-dûr and the Fell Beast. Currently building and I’m absolutely loving it so far!! 42 minutes ago, Altair1 said: I think it will only drive them to come up with another great GWP to go with the Minas Tirith set coming up next year (I am calling it) ! I still say Helm’s Deep makes way more sense considering it will be featured in the War of the Rohirrim film

I would guess it would still be based on the Lord of the Rings movies, but maybe they could do a Helm Hammerhand as GWP? That would be kinda cool IMO.
