Promobricks were the fellows who said Saturn V was retiring 2 years ago, so they are not 100% reliable. Perhaps this set will come out but in 2020. It would make more sense as a 2020 1HY release.

Following this years 42096 Porsche licenced set as 1H flagship with similar price would make more sense indeed.

Official presentation in OctoberĀ maybe (is there some Landrover event planned at the same time?)...

That means that there are alreadyĀ 9 hidden sets between the Liebherr (42100) and the Landrover (42110) ?

mathematically yes, but it does not have to be. In the past some numbers were skipped...as you can see here

No official date yet, but an Autocar article from last year (click) refers to the launch of the new Defender in he autumn of 2019:

" Although the firm remained tight-lipped, sources have suggested it is likely to be launched in autumnĀ next year, with first deliveries then following in early 2020."

EDIT:

If this set proves to be a model of the new LR Defender, I'm hoping for something which looks suitably utilitarian like this render a well known German car magazine made:2019-land-rover-defender-rear-picture.jp

Oh great, everyone's an old fart.:classic:

Well, I'm not. I think we do have a number of young and younger fans on this forum. But not any kids, thankfully.

Ā

Back on topic, I really thinks Lego risks overstretching the Technic brand if they include to many cars with minimal functionality. That should be in Racers.
