Sir Rikkard 'Full Plate' Darby hereby pledge loyalty to Avalonia.

18780588185_8fcb1cc454_c.jpg

Sir Rikkard is a war veteran and came into knighthood by way of merit rather than by birth. As a street child of Albion he was forcibly drafted into the army in his mid teens, and not much is known about his life before then. In the army he showed a keen aptitude for battle, and quickly gained a reputation for his skills, also earning himself the nickname 'Full Plate' as he always entered battle with a heavy armour that he allegedly forged himself. Besides skill with the blade, Rikkard also showed a good insight into warfare tactics, as displayed by him making many successful, critical decisions on the battlefield when out of contact with his commanders.

After serving in multiple campaigns and racing through the ranks Rikkard was knighted for his bravery and skill, and was subsequently given an estate just west of Albion. He was often consulted on wartime matters, and was also involved in training of new recruits from time to time.

Sir Rikkard is a man of few words, and has little interest in socialising and politics. He is loyal to those he trusts, but he does not hide his disdain for those he believe unsuitable for their office, and have more than once slighted those of high birth, leading to him gaining a number of enemies in the high society of Albion. Although he is undeniably capable, he has been attacked on the matter of his low birth by those opposed to him.

Being weary of socialising, Sir Rikkard had taken to remaining in his estate more often. However, he has since then been assigned to the remote startup colony of Newquay on the Overgrown Isle, just off the north-western coast of Avalonia, to provide security for the local Lord there. An odd request for a man of his calibre, Sir Darby went to question his superior on this task, and found out that his reassignment is part of a bigger scheme. Not sure what to make of it, Sir Darby decided to play along and travel to Newquay. During the journey Sir Darby lost one of his men to an ambush.

The Overgrown Isle is a prime source of rare timber, allowing for these to be harvested without having to travel too deeply into the Mystic Isles. For years day trips have been made to the isle to procure the timber, but recently the decision was made to set up a colony on the isle to increase production and, of course, revenue. From what Sir Rikkard has heard, the colony has not been faring well, having lost many workers to the woods, feeding the notion of a great and dangerous power in the forest. Sir Rikkard is not one for superstition, but he has also seen far too many strange things over the years to rule anything out without a proper investigation.

Ok, so it's been a while since I posted here, but it's nice to see things are going strong with Book III and everything :)

Also nice to see a lot of familiar people here :)

Glad to be aboard!

I, Neville Equicius, son of Albus Equicius, pledge my allegiance to Avalonia!

30670385197_e38278e9ca_c.jpghistorica sig fig by The Nev, on Flickr

The Equicius clan were once respected as great horsemen, our herds of old were among the finest in all of Historica. Living a semi-nomadic way of life, the Equicius would traverse the eastern grasslands of Avalonia as the seasons changed, with only a handful of villages based in the northern-most plains. This way of life ended, however, when pillagers of the north raided and destroyed our villages, stole or scattered our herds, and many of our finest riders' lives were lost in those darkest days. Since then, the Equicius have never recovered their previous status, and the remaining clansmen are scattered amongst the towns and villages of Avalonia, and the horsemen of old are forgotten by all except legend.

My father, a descendant of the leader of our clan of old, Eorl of Equicius the first, was determined that the Equicius would return to their pastures of old, and once again be admired across the lands for their herds. Nine years ago, he embarked on a journey to find the tomb of Eorl of Equicius, which he believed would contain the key to reuniting the clan, but he did not return. After 5 years passed, I came of age, and by a strange stroke of fate, received a map from my father's uncle, a map which revealed the location of Eorl of Equicius' tomb. That day, I set out to find my father and lead him to the tomb, and that continues to be my quest to this day.

I fear for the odds of my success, as it has been too many years since my father was last seen. Who knows what foul circumstances have befallen him? I hold onto hope though, as I am sure it is my destiny to see that my father unites the clan of Equicius...

Results are in, folks! Great work Avalonians!

Challenge entries earned gold for each guild:
Avalonia - 79 gold
Kaliphlin - 47 gold
Mitgardia - 29 gold
Varlyrio - 22 gold

And here are the gold earnings for the first free build period.
Avalonia - 134 gold
Varlyrio - 110 gold
Mitgardia - 94 gold
Kaliphlin -  62 gold

Giving the current standings of the guilds:
Avalonia - 213 gold
Varlyrio - 132 gold
Mitgardia - 123 gold
Kaliphlin -  109 gold

We have a sizable lead, but let's not get comfortable and let it go away! This puts a target on our backs as the bearded ladies, backstabbers, and mummy's boys try to beat us. Keep up the good work!

So quick question working on several builds for CCC this year, my first time. Can they be used as Freebuild here and can they count toward HSS?
