ranghaal Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 (edited) This is a rurtle - half rock, half turtle. I made this for the Summer Joust 2018 competition. Rock Tortoise by Ralf Langer, auf Flickr It was kind of an accident. I didn't really wanted to do an animal. But I liked the idea to do a shield and place ruins and trees on it. So I started to build a turtle head. Well, this is what it became. The head is not photoshopped or strenghtend. It's pure Lego. I had to attach a massive Lego counter weight on the other side. Johnny1360 Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 Don't know why but I really do like this, the expression on the turtles face is spot on, lazy, lumbering behemoth. Good job, would love to see more pictures. Quote
Shiva Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Lovely rurtle! Would be amazing to see all of it, but that would be a big and expensive build. Quote
x105Black Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 I love the scene, but would really like to see the full creature build. Or at least a behind the scenes to show how much of it was built. Quote
ranghaal Posted July 29, 2018 Author Posted July 29, 2018 Here's the whole thing :-) As you can see, I haven't built the shield, only a very large block. It wasn't intended for display, only a "short" build for the competition. https://roguebricks.de/forum/index.php?thread/1588-niemals-auf-bäume-klettern-rennen/ I was asked to display it at a museum in chigaco, but I already disassembled it yesterday. x105Black Posted July 30, 2018 Posted July 30, 2018 Awesome! Thanks for sharing! It's a really beautiful model, and the photo looks brilliant. The other shot gives a lot of insight. Great work! Quote
Wout Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 That's an awesome turtle. I would love to see the whole turtle, but that's probably not possible. Quote
