I think it's from new line :)

Dogshank and Killow are bigger molded characters. Or did you mean animals?

Not yet maybe but this could be the first. I mean they're not 'bigger' but ninjago has introduced a few new animal parts and recolours.

What new line? Are there any licenses lego has or may get that involve Kitsune? It would have to be a licensed theme wouldn't it? because to have two original themes inspired by Japanese culture/mythology would be a little odd.

Have you heard of Dogshank? Or Killow?

A new tv show was teased at the toy fair, but we still know next to nothing about it

The moulded creature looks more like a wolf than a fox to me. It reminds me of the wolf from Princess Mononoke, and the one named Amaterasu from the video game Ōkami:

The fact that we've just had oni and next wave focusses on samurai, makes ik more credible that this moulded creature will indeed appear in the Ninjago line. If true, that would make it the first moulded animal introduced in Ninjago!

I call those bigfigs, not creatures. In the same way I consider Pythor a minifigure, and would never call him a creature. Everything is a creature; your personal definition just depends on how many distinct types you've already defined and substracted from it.

^I was put onto that track via an instagram comment.. :shrug_oh_well: By the way, it's funny to see tons of IG commenters trying their hardest to figure out whether this creature must be from Marvel, DC or Star Wars.

Good call on the snakes, my bad!

in any case it would be amazing to get more eastern asian inspired creatures/designs; those wolves would be useful for so many animes. And it would be the first real wolf mold in general

I.. am very confused as to why it's a wolf instead of a fox.

I think it's because how big it is.

Wolves are larger indeed, but also look at the head and it's shape. Wolves have larger heads relative to their body size than foxes (which I just learned trough this handy article: https://hubpages.com/animals/Canidae-Association-Dog-vs-Wolf-Jackal-Coyote-and-Fox ).

I hope not. The cameo was nice. But I'd rather not have a full blown crossover.

If anything I'd rather see Nexo Knights crossover with Ninjago.

I know it looks more like a wolf, but why make it a wolf instead of fox, when foxes are known for having a multiple tail myth?

Well, if I recall correctly, they got strong backlash with early Bionicle stuff because it used actual names from the Maori culture, which was considered disrespectful exploitation of a culture. Since then they've made sure to never copy straight from cultures and myths for their original IP's.

Oni aren't 1:1 what they are in Japanese culture, but they still have the same name and are pretty similar.

Speaking of Oni, episode 97 finally show the other variants of the Oni (minifig headed and short legged ones) from the accessory pack. Though there are also variant with faun legs shown too...:shrug_oh_well:

Would it have costed more to use faun legs for the minifigures?

Wolfs are larger foxes.

Probably they got rid of the Faun leg molds

The faun legs were used on the flying monkeys from the Lego Batman Movie.

Not sure on that but I wouldn't mind paying a few extra dollars or more for faun legs and extra printing.
