(WIP) Hoth Battle - Minifig scale (Richboy AT-AT + more)

Recommended Posts

Hi

My first thread on the forum, and hope to learn from posting and reading (And getting better go write english)

Has been dreaming about a small "Hoth Battle" scene for year, and finally I have started - The main feature will be the amazing AT-AT from Richboy with around 6500 pieces.

The scene will also feature a couple of Snowspeeder, but dont have the finish plan complete - Is LDD the most easy program to use when beeing complete new to the MOC universe ?

-----------------

Have been buying pieces for a long time, and use rebrickable.com to keep track on what I still have to get, and this I how the progress was a couple of weeks ago (Had around 1500 parts before starting to buy).

The first package came from Belgium, and is was around 3600 parts in that one box ......

Thanks :-) - This is how around 6000 parts look like, with the part list printet on paper (Just to build the AT-AT).....

To afford this massive build, 2. hand parts will be used and even some with miscolor - When finish I will see how (bad) it look, and change parts to new later on  - But at the moment they will be used so I can start building.

Lets get started and learn how to show a build like this in the best way along the way ....

Started with the feet, and found 4 random minifig to show the size, help with the build and add some color :classic:

To add some friction he uses tires under 2 off the feets, a really nice detail you almost dont see when its finish - On this build I will remove them later on, but at the moment they stay.

Nice! I'm actually thinking of doing this too. I've about 70% of the pieces for RichboyJhae's AT-AT, and I'm thinking of - after building it - expanding with some kind of Hoth scene.

By the way, which do you think is the best and most accurate AT-AT? Richboy's or Cavegods? The latter is obviously bigger, but I heard it's very unstable and could collapse under it's own weight etc.

Cavegod's is actually too big if you plan on displaying it alongside minifigures. Jhae's wins in that regard for sure

Are you using rebrickable to see what you are missing ? - Not all parts in the instruction show up on Rebrickable part list, just so you know (Just found out this week - Some small parts with print)

Richboy is in minifig scale, and that was a very important deal to me. Which is the most accurate I dont know, but like some af the small details on Richboys better.

Both look amazing and will be a center piece in any collection, but to me it ended up beeing the one from Richboy.

Thanks for the heads up, but I've noticed it too. :) The danger pattern 1 x 4 tiles for example. I assume those are replaced with just yellow 1x4's in the part list, etc.

The beginning of all 4 legs together, and also when the feet was still ongoing ....

And is the "naked" legs together with a finish on to show the difference

And this is how much that attach to the "naked" leg - It really add some streght together with great detail ....

@Fonne I never tire of seeing one LEGO AT-AT after another, nor do I cease to find amusing the common mistake of the leg fixed to the foot backward

Keep up the great progress anyway!

I wonder how it turned out, although he hasn't visited for a while.

I recently built Jhae's AT AT too and I enjoyed the process a lot.

But I had to learn the hard way that the rebrickable parts list is unreliable after ordering an extra foot, and missing several parts...
