the black technic bricks on the bottom panel are replacements of magnet bricks. It could be tricky but they have some gaps within the black bricks. you must find the right gap to attach to the main beam.

you can see the detail image at the LDD file.

The parts list at Rebrickable is now updated with the findings from @rockpig. Nothing major, just the ones he reported:

  • +2 LBG 1x2 plates
  • +2 LBG 2x4 plates
  • -2 LBG 2x3 plates

A small update to the instructions should come later this week, fixing the issues mentioned by @rockpig. If anyone else has found anything, now's the time to report

So #6118 is in Light Grey because LBG isn't available. Why not #2489 in Light Grey as well? I mean, it's still an insane price of about $10 per piece, but there are more available than LBG.

If one were to go with DBG for the barrels and cylinders, would Pearl Dark Grey look good for #6118?

Hey, this model is awesome, I checked BL and the price is around 2.3k AUD. Does that sound right? The prices are also ridiculous for the LBG barrels, costing $40 for each, and the other one, $20 for each! And you need 12 of them :wall:

#2489 in LBG is part of the Voltron set, which means it could be available in bricks and pieces pretty soon !

Edit : in fact it looks like DBG :(

You should keep a timer from start to finish for build time to complete. Secondly Brickmarlin, where are you going to display that ship amongst your collection? lol Good problems to have.

I've started the order process.

I don't think I'll like the look of the DBG barrels so planning on doing a brick substitute.

2x  4032

1x 92947

1x 15535

1x 4073

Texture isn't quite as good as the barrel but it should look good with the color consistency.

Got everything ordered.  A little over $800 with shipping, most of it new pieces.

If you're planning on building this in the USA, using Bricks and Pieces for select parts will save you a lot of money.  Also, the easy/auto order function on bricklink is not all that great for this particular build.  I'm not sure why; I've used it in the past (The Agressor) and wasn't able to beat it's prices manually, but for this I saved about $200 by selecting a few stores manually and editing the orders.  I ordered about 2,200 pieces off Bricks & Pieces which has fixed shipping of $3 so that saves a ton.  The original cost without B&P and manual selection was about $1,200.

If you really wanted to watch the pennies you could check every lot vs Bricks & Pieces and manually build the entire order; you might be able to do it for ~$750.  Not too bad.

I'm sure there are others. Those are just ones I generally knew to look for based on past experience. The wedge plates alone save you a ton.
