We know you've been waiting patiently for the lions to form and today we're delighted to reveal the very first images of LEGO® Ideas 21311 Voltron. Originally submitted by the Philipino LEGO Ideas member Lendy Tayag a.k.a. len_d69 back in April 2016, it's since been under transformation, in the capable hands of LEGO Designer Niek Duco van Slagmaat, who has ensured it lives up to the LEGO build quality and experience.

At 2,321 LEGO elements, LEGO Voltron also becomes the largest ever LEGO Ideas set, measured by piece count! However, it's not just the element count that's supersized as the combined Voltron measures a towering 15” (40cm) high, 5” (14cm) long and 8” (21cm) wide, making it the biggest buildable LEGO mech ever.

LEGO Voltron will be available from shop.LEGO.com/Voltron and LEGO stores around the world from the 1st of August, 2018 for a recommended retail price of USD/EURO* 179.99 / GBP 159.99.

If you're itching to get your copy of 21311 Voltron as soon as possible then we can reveal that this set will be available early for LEGO VIP members on the 23rd July, 2018! Remember it's free to become a LEGO VIP member and you can learn more about it here.

:wub_drool: I have never been so excited for an Ideas set, this looks fantastic. Hefty price tag, but not a surprising one. Absolutely getting this without second thought.

Nice to see another large Ideas set, and it looks like it's well done. Never seen the show or original toys though, so this is of no interest to me.

This is super cool. I never thought Lego would do this. I'm a little disappointed that the legs aren't poseable, but at the same time I know why. Hip joints are one of the hardest things to get right in a mech, and so Lego decided to forgo that for sake of stability.

Don't really like the head, it looks so small compared to the rest. You should buy 2 sets and display them in both ways.

I'm pretty sure the hips turn. They have to for the black lion's legs to transform

I'll be honest. I know nothing whatsoever about Voltron. I'm not familiar with the character or stories. I've never watched it before. I still think this looks a very cool and unique set though. It's also a decent price for the amount of parts included.

I’ve never watched Voltron and know nothing about it but, much like Ninjago City last year, this set is so brilliantly designed that I want to get it as soon as I can!!

I wish that it had Minifigures of the five Paladins. If it did, even though this set is based on the classic version, I would have liked the Minifigures to be based on the Netflix series (I adore its version of Pidge).

I know. I really wanted to get my hands on the Netflix Pidge.

Voltron looks really good. I'm a little disappointed at the restricted poseability when in Voltron / robot form, but it's understandable.

I also wish it was coming with minifigures of the five pilots / paladins. Maybe they're saving them for a future set? Something with a Castle of Lions diorama?

That's the plan!

I would really have loved that, and I hope for it in the future, but I understand why it was done this way.

I just hope that those numbers aren't stickers (my luck, they will be).

I hope they do, even though as an Ideas set it does not seem likely. Again if they do, hope it is for the Netflix series.

I hope so, too.  Although, I'd prefer the original cast.  I wouldn't mind the Netflix versions as well, though.

I got into the series via Overly Sarcastic Productions showcasing the Netflix show, which is why I prefer that version.

Fair enough.  I got into it because I watched it as a child in the 80's.  It was one of the best shows to me in my youth.

According to newspaper on microfilm, the original Voltron series aired on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (Ch2) back in the 1980s.

And I might get this set to complement my Power Rangers zord collection!

Yes, I used to get up early before school to watch it on ABC.

Finally! A bit disappointed there aren't any minifigs but not surprised, there weren't any in the submission anyway. Looks perfect, and I'm so glad it's stable and transforms.

Price range is not unexpected to me
