I think whoever came up with the "Powered Up" name either doesn't know fans usually refer to the previous (Power Functions) system by its initials, or isn't that familiar with the English language.

Explanation:

Spoiler

Powered Up -> PU -> peugh -> bad smell

If you think Powered Up sounds bad, people around here talk about engine efficiency in terms of Fuel Utilization :look:

Nintendo got away with using the name "WII". I guess we'll get over "Pee You" pretty fast.

Multinational company fun. Years ago, LEGO was coming out with a pencil holder set.  The folks in UK did the marketing blurb for Canada.  They wrote perfect for holding your pencils and rubbers.

Rubbers are not erasers in Canada.

And let's not forget about SNOT, which is especially good for concealing unwanted studs.

Does anyone know when this set will be available?

Maybe I will venture into the Train theme a bit, to find out the details :sweet:

Too bad we don't see connection ports.

Is it confirmed that they are RJ or they can be like USB ports or something?

EDIT: It's Boost ports, right?

So, only 2 output ports at the back of the brick?

If yes, it mean Power up is not going to replace PFS for most of Technic sets.

Most of the technic sets use 1 motor and gearbox. One can use 2 battery boxes in very expensive sets like flagships. I assume linking could be done through the programming.

SBrick and BuWizz must be breathing a sigh of relief. But PU still has (I hope) the advantage of physical controls without needing the mobile device constantly connected.

Compatibility will be a key element of their survival and success - I hope they'll find a way to use the future Powered Up physical controllers with their systems.

Promobricks.de posted some images of the new components from the 2018 train sets. The battery box/controller has 2 ports only and the train motor seems to be similar to the previous one except for the connector.
