I used small minifig axes in the prototype (old firemen figs used those). Screwdrivers are more clean/elegant solution but what you need is actually a tiny piece of bar sticking out of headlight brick. If you have a piece of flex hose to cut, it would be perfect; you can get away with little 1-stud-long pieces if you wish.

Awesome,

I'm so pumped up to build this! Will post pictures of the collection when complete

Finally!!!

I have been waiting for this one since I saw your first design.
I will get it first thing after my next paycheck and try to get the parts for it.

Thank you so much Jerac and looking forward to your X-wing counterpart for this.

Jerac, I'm curious why you built the guns/window attachment/controls differently for Vader's tie than your regular tie fighter.  They're basically identical in the movies, right?  I've built your standard TF, and I wasn't satisfied with the solidness of the front bits, or the T-pieces sticking out next to the guns.  I was thinking of trying to copy the lower front from your Vader tie.  Is this a new and improved version, in your mind?

Proportions. The x1 has 9-"long" ball while standard TIE has 8-"long", as it looked better. This in turn allowed me to make better gun & cockpit canopy mounting. But yes, I can't say I am fond of the original design anymore. Sadly, updating an existing design is a complicated process so it got stuck, two times already...

Ya, I’ve noticed there isn’t space on the standard TIE for this style of mount. I’ll let you know if I figure out a better solution 🙂

Does anyone know why all these TIEs seem to be harder to buy parts for recently? Used to be the parts for an interceptor were about 100-120 dollars, but now it seems like it's more around 150-200 with upwards of ten different stores

2020 is going to be tough for my wallet...

my list of MOCs to build is a bit too long... my heart says the contrary but my head says I should have some in 2020 and the rest in 2021 onwards...

all TIEs from Jerac will definitely be on my list

LBG parts are just expensive in general, the TIE cockpit window parts would be pretty expensive too, not to mention the quarter dome pieces as well

Your models astound me. Each and every one of them is gobs better than the official LEGO kits. I intend on buying some of your instructions for these soon. Keep up the good work!

Excellent MOC! This is the best TIE Advanced I've ever seen in Lego. Is it too heavy/not sturdy for children to play with?
