sheo Posted February 27, 2018 (edited) I would like to present a 1:42 scale model of one of the largest haul trucks in the world, Caterpillar 797F. The model has the following features: Full suspension; Transmission with planetary reduction; Remotely controlled propulsion and steering, body raising and lighting; Folding ladders. The scale of the model is minifigure compatible. Bonus video: Thank you for your attention! Edited October 28, 2019 by sheo
jorgeopesi Posted February 27, 2018 Epic truck, I would change the back part of the bed and I would use black wheels instead of yellow ones.
Maaboo35 Posted February 27, 2018 (edited) This is something else! Great job. Here's an idea: have you tried it with CLAAS tyres? Edited February 27, 2018 by Maaboo35

jorgeopesi Posted February 27, 2018 It was at first view, I would have to see the 797 you took as a model but I feel that the angle of the back part of the bed is too pronounced and makes it seem small, it is just an opinion the truck is equally impressive and these things are only noticed by those who are continually seeing machinery. Oliver 79 Posted February 27, 2018 Absolutely stunning. Your attention to detail is incredible. I especially like the way you made the steps at the front. Very creative. Is wedging tiles in between studs, like the ladder on the front, considered an illegal build technique? It doesn't bother me, but I wondered how you felt about such matters. Anyway, I wish my building was as polished as yours.
ludovisser Posted February 27, 2018 Very nice indeed. Is the scale close enough to your Bucyrus to make some nice photo's together? (1:42 vs 1:48)
evortigosa Posted February 27, 2018 Another impressive model ! Where is the planetary transmission? I am curious about this feature.
deraven Posted February 27, 2018 Great truck! Looks nice, and a solid set of features. I especially like the stairs and railing details up front. Well done.
Leonardo da Bricki Posted February 27, 2018 Very nice truck, it looks huge. Good functionality as well. I'd like to know more about the planetary transmission. Is it RC, or not?
sheo Posted February 28, 2018 Thanks for the comments everyone! 11 hours ago, Oliver 79 said: Is wedging tiles in between studs, like the ladder on the front, considered an illegal build technique? At least it's allowed by Lego Digital Designer. 10 hours ago, Leonardo da Bricki said: I'd like to know more about the planetary transmission. Is it RC, or not? I'm sorry, I didn't mean a gearbox, it's just a planetary reduction. 11 hours ago, Ludo Visser said: Is the scale close enough to your Bucyrus to make some nice photo's together? (1:42 vs 1:48) Initially I wanted to make them in the same scale but I couldn't find suitable Lego tires. I tried putting the models side by side and found that it looks quite weird. Sjoemie himself Posted February 28, 2018 Really awesome truck. If only TLG would produce sets like these in a new 'model team' series. I would probably buy and build every set they would produce.. Are you (planning on) making instructions for this truck?
sheo Posted February 28, 2018 I've added a small bonus video to the first post.

sheo Posted March 1, 2018 Thanks again for the comments guys! 2 hours ago, I_Igor said: Now imagine to fit V24 engine in this beauty As far as I know, 797F version uses a 20 cylinder engine. Anyway, I ran out of space. At least I have a large fuel tank! 1 hour ago, Sariel said: Superb detailing and photography! Thank you! Looking forward to your version! Larger scale brings more possibilities! 33 minutes ago, supertruper1988 said: Will you be offering instructions for this beauty? Probably not. I found that collecting all those yellow parts is quite a painful exercise.
