Non-Pirate Mini-Figures Useful for Pirate MOCing?

Recommended Posts

thindexedgif.gif

Taking an idea from this thread regarding the wild west theme, I thought we should have a similar thread here.

So what non-pirate theme figures would work well for pirates?

This guy could make some kind of special solider, maybe a Grenadier:

Any of these Han Solo variations would work too:

Plus the super cool Lando:

Dagobah Luke:

Those are my initial thoughts,

The figures from the Orient Expedition theme make good Arab or Indian sailors:

Of course, some of these will need a bit of editing *cough*Yoda*cough* X-D

Plus:

-All the Jedi, really - torsos, capes

-Adventurers

-Wild West

-Most castle figures, minus helmets, esp Forestmen

-Vikings, minus helmets

-And, of course, Achu!

I think the new Rebel Torsos from the Rebel BP would be good as well.

Excellent thread, Athos! I often use torsos from other themes while building piratical creations due to the fact that I myself own little pieces from the actual LEGO Pirate product line. I'm not sure about the Penguin torse, the bow tie looks to me more like mid to late 19th century dress. Anyway, here's some more examples -

Some Jedi robes can make nice generic townspeople/farmers/pirates -

Gilderoy Lockheart's elegant dress makes excellent aristocrats -

Newer Dumbledore torso and Vampire torso makes a good hussar -

Plus, the Professor Hooch torso from the Harry Potter line and this castle torso suits certain Imperial commanders very well - :-P

Also, I like these two classic castle torsos -

973p46.1067215792.jpg973pb93c01.jpg

And some more good generic ones including Frank Mason's coat and a town one-

Thanks for taking the initiative to get this thread kicked off, Mr Athos.

Now, keep the mini-figures coming folks!

I think these would fit in nicely.

This one is a bit of a stretch, but maybe...

Mostly I see these as useful in part. Primarily the torsos, but sometimes the heads work as well (and the legs rarely matter). Obviously some are later era than others, and some are more military than anything, but we seem to get a lot of military crossover in the theme. I'd forgotten that a Paradisa figure used a Pirates torso, and that there was a non-Pirates Paradisa torso that is so close to a real one (the blue/white without the belt).

In some cases, other figures exist with the same torso, and would be equally useful.

Yeah, Amen to that. Can any of you guys imagine a pirate MOC with a Yoda in it?

Also you need to be careful using Star Wars clothes as sometimes lightsabres etc. are visible.

Regards, Captain Zuloo ;-)

Edit Mr Tiber: I fixed the quote and cut out the images, everyone will understand what you mean without the images just fine ;-)

This geezer's torso would make a nice conquistador. (although I'm more a fan of the seperate cuiras)

cas037.jpg

And I'm pretty sure this Dumbledore robe could make something piratey too

This guys pretty good once you replace his hat with a black bandana.

cas053.jpg

Or an oriental pirate.

cas206.jpg

And this guys ready to be chucked in as is. Or you could just use his head to make some of the regular pirates a little more unique and distinguishable from each other.

Just one problem. They would be great exept for the Big "H" in the middle of the uniform.

The "H" can stand for "Hornblower" X-D

I always thought the Indian mini-figures from the Western theme could be used for different faces and possible torsos if one wanted to create figures for a Aztec/Incan/Mayan/Olmec MOC.

Or Horatio!

I made some piratey minifigs using Non-Pirate minifig torsos and heads:

happy_gang.png

From left to right:

-A pretty girl with the queen Leonarda torso from the first Knight's Kingdom line, and the head from the adventurers girl.

-An older pirate with the Sam Sinister (that's his name, right?) torso, from the Orient Expedition line and the head from king Leo , also from the first Knight's Kingdom line.

-A pirate with the Severus Snape torso from the Harry Potter line and a bandit head from the Wild West line

-A real Dutch Hero! Michiel Adrieanszoon de Ruyter, with a soldier cuirras torso from the first Knights Kingdom line, and a Rascus head. (Dutch pride on!)

-Captain Red Hair, (Red Beard's son) using a Vampire torso from the Studios line and a stunt man head, also from the Studios line.

-Another pretty girl with a castle torso and a queen Leonarda head, from the first Knights Kingdom line.

Brings awesome variation in the pirates world! *sweet*

Hi!

Regarding this specific minifig head:

cas352.jpg

What does the white print below his moustache represent? A lopsided grin? Chewing gum?

I wouldn't think it would be anything but a lopsided grin. Or maybe he's not grinning, just bearing his teeth. X-D

Ever since the announcement of the Imperial Flagship I've been pondering these ideas... Instead of the chef that comes with the set, I want to use this woman from MMV:

cas404.jpg

And instead of a prison, I want the room at the front of the ship to be a gunpowder storage room, and I want to use this torso with a tricorn for the powdermaster (or whatever you would call him):

973pb538c01.jpg

Ignoring the answer of 'of course you could do that if you wanted to, this is Lego, you could put space aliens on your ship if you wanted', how historically accurate would these torsos be?

Edit: Sorry, I hadn't realised there was already a thread for this... although it seems odd that these two haven't already been mentioned. Another development from recent times that should be mentioned here is the extremely pirate-looking head from Atlantis set 8057. I will be getting that set just for the head.

Merged! Probably better to keep these threads together as an "index"

I think Dracula's torso would make an excellent captain or evil admiral:

And Dobby's torso makes a good ragged boy or slave:
