Spud The Viking Posted January 31, 2018 (edited) Entry for Category B, in Era II, Challenge I After locking horns with Spud, Captain Joshua set into the deep jungle. His academic training told him to follow the nearest river and find the source, like many other great Corrington explorers. After many hours of avoiding bugs and mud, Joshua set eyes upon a reasonably sized waterfall, the first there had been upon this river. Joshua Falls by Tom Gray, on Flickr "Hmm, bring along the maps, I wish to check the records" Joshua ordered his lackey "Aha, it seems this river has previously been recorded by someone from Oleon and by comparing it to my fine sketch, it seems they have failed to add in this waterfall" Joshua Falls by Tom Gray, on Flickr "Now, what shall we call this geographical feature? 'Joshua Falls'. Not to be vain but I think it matches my handsome looks" One of the soldiers made a boking sound but it was easily dismissed by the Captain. Joshua Falls by Tom Gray, on Flickr The report reads as follows; Figure 34 shows a waterfall approximately fifteen feet high. The above river of roughly eight feet at its widest point cascades down and widens to approximately eighteen feet in width. This has slowed the river down considerably, but the exact amount of water flowing per hour could not be recorded due to the loss of a measuring tape and the subsequent argument of which member of the party's definition of 'one foot in length'. A beaten path leads up to the waterfall but there is no buildings or other features in the vicinity. The waterfall has been named 'Joshua Falls' after its discoverer, Captain Joshua of Corrington, who was funded by Frederick Spud of Clan Spud. Joshua Falls by Tom Gray, on Flickr "Very good, let us continue on, we'll find a path up this hill and then back to the river" Little did they know, someone was lurking within the bushes. Garmadon Posted February 5, 2018 Always liked the Captain Joshua! Nice little build, Spud! - the vegetation works quite well, and the foam at the bottom of the waterfall works nicely too If I had some nitpicks, they'd be that I'm not really buying the slopes to start the waterfall with, and that a little more movement in the rest of the water might have been a good addition, but overall this is quite a nice build! Bregir Posted April 7, 2018 @Spud The Viking To Captain Joshua, The Royal Society has received and reviewed your letter on Joshua falls with great interest and have decided to confirm your naming of the waterfall. As a result, we should like to invite you to give your initiation lecture to the Royal Society at your convenience, after which you will be considered a full fellow of the society. Additionally, we have bestowed upon you a research grant of 100 dbs to enable you to continue your studies of the interiors of Celestia. Sincerely The executive committee The Royal Society of Natural Philosophy
Spud The Viking Posted April 7, 2018 @Bregir would it be possible for the invitation to be altered to suit the founder and sponsor of Captain Joshua's expedition; Lord Spud. If not, that's completely fine it's just Mr Joshua is getting all of the titles and promotions instead of Spud, my main character

Hence, I am afraid Lord Spud will have to find other means of glory this time around... (However, pm me about what sort of career you would like Lord Spud to pursue, and I will try to advice you as best I can)
