$599 = $0.17 per part = way too expensive = not buying... (yet)

If every member is going to post if they bought it or not, the thread couldĀ  easily reach 200 pages by lunchtime with no actual useful information.....

Wait a few months and it will be much cheaper. Porsche costs ā‚¬220 MISB here, ā‚¬110 below the normal price.Ā

I'm really curious for Jims review. I want to see how they realized the geneva mechanism to drive the second gear selector.

Ā ouhhh ... from the German review linked above the tested gear sequence:

"1. Gang ā†’ 6. Gang ā†’ 7. Gang ā†’ 8. Gang ā†’ 5. Gang ā†’ 2. Gang ā†’ 3. Gang ā†’ 4. Gang."

Translation : Gang = gear

this sounds not promising if the builder has built it correctly....

@Didumos69, i already see your errata on the horizon ;)

What's the best source for the current activities of @Jim, @Sariel, and the rest of the gang in Billund? Can we expect more to come?

Sariel has filmed the interviews with all the great questions. Definitely worth the watch. He still has the live build, but other than that thereā€™s little to expect.

It sure sounds like he made a mistake by not aligning knobs and gear selectors properly

Maybe (or hopefully) but not for sure. Remember the Porsche which has a wrong gear sequence when build correctly with the BI...

anyway: we will see after sariel has finished his live build...

Ā

At least that reviewer was honest and said that he didn't really understand how the gear box worked. :)

I remember it, that's why I believe that instruction creator was especially careful in this particular aspect.
