The oracle party makes their way through the hovels. As they travel envelopes begin to rain down from the night sky.

Quote

To the Citizenry of Eubric Freeport;

Late this evening, ex-heroes of Heroica assaulted members of the Town Watch and the Paladin Order as they attempted to detain members of the criminal Wolf Gang. The council has determined to deem these individuals as enemies of the city. If you should have contact or sightings of any of the below individuals, reach out at once to your local Watchman or Paladin Order associate.

Persons of Interest:
Atramor Gibbin
Althior Emorith
Lawrence Boomingham
Dyric Rone
Pretzel the Monk
Hoke Ablesword
Karie Alderflask
Kiray Nastayo
Throlar Wineghilm
Germ the Demon
Torald Waruelf
Petaldan Parfenius
Vindsval Half-born
Eric the Nord
Matthias the Halfling
Ezeran Yavarr

Furthermore, due to increased demand upon the Z-mail system and their dependence upon the questionable Ziegfried family, all future Z-mail mailings will require a permit provided by the Eubric Council for Peace and Prosperity in order to be sent.

The Council for Peace and Prosperity
Heroica Hall

The streets of the hovels are empty for the most part, here and there small groups gather around fires to keep warm. The shrine of Fabula Sibylla stands before them, quiet and haunting.

Earlier...

We find Germ, and a Dragon ready to fire at the main party. In an attempted to slow down the Dragon, Germ fires a Portable Catapult he had at the Dragon. All the assault did was make the Dragon flinch. Almost immediately the Dragon spotted Germ and then grabbing him. The Dragon gets a good smell of the Demon and in a surprising move, the Dragon just throws Germ like a rag doll. As Germ is flying (and screaming) he tries to get his "wings" out. Unable to get his "wings" fully out, he ends up crashing threw a bunch random boards and clothes lines untill finally he hits the ground...

Now...

How long have I been laying here? It is still dark so, it could not been that long.

What is this? Oh, great now their is a bounty on my head. And that explains why I haven't heard anything back with the Z-Mail yet. It would not surprise me if they are reading them too. Where am I? As he gets up to look around, Germ is drinking a Nostrum.

OoC:

My status looks OK. For the marketplace would we still able to go their later? And /or do we need to post any purchases in that thread?

As Boomingham walks he uses both his grating stones on Scupperer and both his Shining Polishes on Vest of Faded Trials. Catching hold of the falling flyer he gives it a read and passes it over to Eric with a snort. He also takes stock of his fellow heroes and, perhaps through some sort of divine intervention, notices Torald is lacking a Phoenix Essence. He takes one out of his bag and passes it to Battle Mage.

"What are we thinking?" he asks of his party. "Walk in and ask some questions of anyone we find, or something else?"

OoC: Is Skuld with us?

Looking at the flyer, Torald's mood visibly drops. Enemies of the city. Wow.

He takes the Phoenix Essence with a thanks and puts it in his bag. Torald equips the Mythril Mail.

We can check the door again, can't we? With those words, Torald walks to the door and gives a few solid knocks on it.

OoC: I tried looking up what level you have to be in order to equip 2 artifacts, but I can't find it anywhere... Stats otherwise look fine.

Ezeran catches his breath after the hurried flight. "Let's see what we can do about that door!" Seeing the door in his mind Ezeran visualizes big roots and vines cracking the door posts open, he then tries to project it on the door touching the realm of ether.

The Gloves of the Boy Wonder shouldn't be equipped.

"Let us hope my ether reserves hold out." I mutter.

"Enemies of the city, eh...", Eric muttered, taking the flyer from Bommingham. His trademark wolfish grin surfaced one more. "Heh, tell me something I don't know." He paused, crumbled the leaflet and tossed it away. "Peace and prosperity be damned, my brother."

His hands placed in his sides, Eric stood in front of the Temple, faintly whistling. He scanned the place looking for a way in. Looking around, he let his foot slide over the cobblestones, hoping to find one that was loose enough. If Ezeran's plan failed, perhaps they could throw in a window. After all, the party were already enemies of the city, what could possibly be worse?

A little lost and trying to avoid patrols from the Town Watch and Paladins. Germ eventually comes across a temple. Spotting what he thought was the enemy and from the looks of it distracted. Thinking "Are they trying to break in? Don't they have any morals? Probably they just want to ransack the place." And then in a more leaping before you look moment, Germ attacks.

As everyone's instincts kicks in. Ezeran slimes Germ but the armor just burns the slime off. That is when Torald strike with the Broken Spear and then follows up with a Earth spell witch just seems bouncer off Germ's armor. Then Petaldon comes in with his shield raised but Germ just kicked the shield, sliding poor Petaldon back. That is when Lawrence hits Germ with his Scupperer witch just seems to cause more bleeding and boosted the poison in his system from Torald's first attack. Then Eric charges Germ hitting him with his Conspirator but Germ luckily was holding the Winter Shield witch absorbed most of the blow. Finally Germ counters with his Obsidian Scimitar against Lawrence and Eric but their armor seems to absorbed the strikes.

Die! You Paladins! You will fine out that it is not so easy to stomp, The Might Legendary Epic Demon Germ!

Boomingham ignores the Demon who seems to imagine he has attacked him, watching the vines intently instead. "That's your move?" he asks Ezeran. "I remember when mages used fire. You need a ruby?"

Then tell me this Mr. Ignoring Me, can you tell me where I ran into the rest of you or even you? Because I don't even seem to remember anymore. Their was a bar right or did I just make that up too? And a Dragon was their a Dragon?

Can anyone tell me anything? You know what I am keep an eye for any patrols. Assuming I am not just making them up too.

Taking a position away from the others in a darken Alcove and just setting down finishing off the Nostrum from earlier. Then gets out the Mead he had and starts drinking it. All the while using his Sterile Gloves and stop any bleeding he has from earlier.

Uhm, I think you mistake us. We are your party members, Demon. And we are trying to find the Oracle, so maybe make yourself useful instead of trying to kill us.

Unsurprisingly, no answer. O well.

Torald looks in awe as Ezeran's vines melt away in the blue fire. He listens to the riddle or whatever it is and comes up with nothing.

Is this happening or will it happen, maybe it never happens. Am i, am I useful? What do you do, when you just realized your mind is starting to go? Do I stay and help a doomed city? Or just go, leave, move on like I should of a long time ago?

It obviously has something to do with death. He told the others.

"Death is more of a destination, not a journey. It does carry you anywhere, it's where you stop", Eric stated. The Nord scratched his head as he pondered the riddle. It had been a while since he last tried to solve a riddle. Back in the old days, when he was still living in the North, he was quite good at them and rather enjoyed a little mystery from time to time. Now however, his skills had gotten quite rusty through negligence and the riddle gave him a hard time.

"Of course we get a riddle about burying people." Boomingham scratches his cheek. "Well, I've to half a guess but not much else. Seems like the kid is more or less right - got to be one of the big ones, best I can tell."

"Course, the other answer is a Gods damned river."

There is no answer at the door as Torald knocks.

Vines begin to grow all around the door muscling away at the hinges. A blue fire erupts from the door frame and scorches the magical vines in seconds as blue glowing sigils ignite upon the threshold.

"I'm the stream, winding ceaseless to unchanging ends
Though I seem to kink and wander, there are methods in my bends
Perhaps you did not understand my duty is to ferry you,
Oarless, and without a rudder to the end, and bury you
"

QM Note: 24hrs to PM me the answer if you want experience.

Ezeran looks both puzzled and frustrated as his spell vanes into oblivion. "Well, so much for brute force... There is obviously powerful wards protecting this place which is perhaps good as it keeps not only us out but also our enemies." Contemplating the ghostly sigils Ezeran rubs his chin and sits down to think.

The experienced Boomingham strides forward and with a single utterance of “Fate” the door swings silently open. Inside, the small antechamber before the atrium is in complete disarray. Jars of insence spilt across the floor, candelabra bent and thrown against the stone walls. Books scattered, pages ripped and torn litter the floor, tables over turned, and benches broken. In the air, a fine orange dust covers everything. The smell of decay and rot permeates everything, sickingly mixing with the aroma of the insence and old books.

“Oh it smells awful (cough). Oracle?”

Silence.

Torald does not see any bodies within the antechamber.

No bodies. Fhew. That's a relief. But that doesn't explain this horrific smell... Torald looks around, trying to find the source of the horrid smell.

"Does anyone have a Magic Compass?"

I poke around, looking for any books or scrolls that may be of use to magic users.
