Who's Your Favorite Film Composer and/or Score?

Recommended Posts

I'm going to add to this topic even though it's old. I'm a huge fan of soundtracks and my OST Pandora station is the one I listen to the most.

Other than that, I'll put a vote in for Michael Kamen's theme from Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. I don't care for the movie at all, but the score is hauntingly good.

Great theme!

Alexandre Desplat, Both parts to the Deathly Hallows, the Battle of Hogwarts soundtrack is amazing!

He hasn't done a lot that I've heard, but what he has done is very good.

Star Trek The Motion Picture - Jerry Goldsmith (Not the best movie, but the soundtrack is AMAZING)

Jerry Goldsmith is underrated in my opinion.

I don't really have one favourite, more bits and pieces from the usual

Hans Zimmer:
Crimson Tide - Roll Tide
Interstellar - No Time for Caution

Vangelis
1492 - Conquest of Paradise

Steve Jablonsky
Steamboy - Collapse and Rescue

Michael Giacchino
Star Trek Into Darkness: London Calling

Just had to say these are some of my favs as well.

If I had to pick 1 overall favorite it has to be Danny Elfman. I love how versatile he is.
Serenada Schizophrana - I Forget
Alice in Wonderland - Alice's Theme
Corpse Bride - Piano Duet

If I have to pick 1 album, it's Harry Gregson William's Sinbad.
A personal favorite from the album is Surfing.

A few other favorites not already mentioned:
Mychael Danna - Surf's Up - Legends
James Newton Howard - Last Airbender - Flow Like Water
Michael Giacchino - Jupiter Ascending - I Hate My Life
Ramin Djawadi - Great Wall - First Battle
Bear McCreary - Black Sails - Parson's Farewell
Hans Zimmer - Madagascar 3 - New York City Surprise
Hans Zimmer - Lone Ranger - Finale
John Powell - Rescuing Penny
James Horner - Avatar (I'm really not sure how Avatar's 2-4 will manage without him)
James Horner - Balto - Heritage of the Wolf
Jerry Goldsmith - The Mummy
Steve Jablonsky - Transformers - Arrival to Earth
Steve Jablonsky - Transformers 4 - Tessa
Steve Jablonsky - Transformers 4 - Autobots Reunite

And one that's not a soundtrack but is still great: Thanks for the Falcon

Despite quite a few here citing the work of Joe Hisaishi for many of Studio Ghibli's films, I've only now decided to check them out for the first time, starting off with Hayao Miyazaki's Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and Laputa: Castle in the Sky. Between the two, I'm probably fondest of the latter and its score...
