"Gotta commend ya for yer commitment to your ruse. Pity if it all went up in flames wouldn't it be?" A small fire alights in the Doomsayer's palm as he holds it over the dry corpse.

"Hmm.  You know, if you really are the Doomsayer of Heroica's past," Arthur says, addressing the strange dwarf this time with deceptively casual Diplomacy, "it's my responsibility to make a rather simple inquiry.  How's Lucifuge?"

"Lucifuge? Sounds like a celestial of some sort."

Matthias does his best to stay quiet and unnoticed, while also doing his best to keep Chesterine at arms distance and the red heat of a blush from creeping back into his face. Without much to add to the conversation, the gnome reaches out through the ether towards the strange dwarf, trying to sense whether nurturing would have any effect - is he perhaps a true Founder, but under some sort of spell?

Matthias's nurturing seems to have no effect upon the dwarf.

"I warned ya!" The cavern begins to shake as Hoke finds his legs encased in earth. The Doomsayer's form begins to blur until multiple dwarves stand before the party.

Matthias whispers to Chesterine. "Obvously this isn't ideal, but do you think you can speak to the remains there and find out whether it's the Golden Dragon? If you can find out quickly, maybe we can avoid this messiness." The gnome readies his Stave to heal any injured party members.

Hoke feels the earth itself heave up and bite into his legs.  It was more of a nuisance than a deterrent.

Hoke quickly digs in his pack and pulls out a scroll, tossing it to the necromancer.

"Use that."

Hoke tosses the Scroll of Sleep to Chesterine.

Atramor, should Bellanote be on hastening duty again?

"Lucifuge? Sounds like a celestial of some sort."

Arthur stares at the false Founder with something akin to triumph.  "Your ignorance proves your lie."

OOC: Just going to remind y'all that Arthur can either use his polearms as throwing weapons, or melee attack with them (even from the Back Row); also, Solidarity will give everyone in a Row Encouraged so long as at least three of you are in said row alongside Arthur.

Don't have time for a full tactical analysis, but just some quick things I noticed: we have a max of 11 attacks, but Not-The-Doomsayer has 14 on Quickened, aside from Bellanotte-induced extra attacks.  Also, barring Free Hit overload Arthur is literally untouchable by him due to *Immune to Magic* (see ruling here), so feel free to have him go ham, just beware of Chromatic Orb (maybe if we have some spare turns Arthur can lend his Diamond to someone who wouldn't trigger that particular Special?  Just so the rest of the party doesn't have to risk the damage?).

...actually, some rulings questions for WBD: 1.) what's Bellanotte's base class for purposes of the Doomsayer's Specials?  2.) Did you roll for Atramor's lockpicks yet?  3.)  How does *in flight* work?

QM Note: Bellanotte's base class is rogue, I just rolled for Atramor's Lockpicks, *in flight* removed, it was only used for the last battle. Also to note, Torc is currently not in the battle.

Why wouldn't/shouldn't we try Sleep?

Matthias, not certain of the plan but certain that the other heroes are swinging, motions Chesterine to stay towards the back. He fires off a shot with his Extraordinaire, then swings his stave around to heal anyone who's hurt.

> Matthias: Extraordinaire v. Enemy
> Chesterine: Revive v. First KO'd Party Member
> Matthias: Heal (Stave) v. First Injured Party Member; if none, Extraordinaire v. Enemy

OOC: Since I'm online tonight and able to give an action, I'll do that now, but I'll be unavailable from Friday through Monday, at minimum, so please keep that in mind, folks; there's a reason I asked WBD to have Arthur's battle actions controlled by Dyric.

Arthur melee attacks the enemy with his Dauntlet Index twice from the Front Row, then melee attacks the enemy once with his Dauntlet Index from the Back Row.

I think it's safe to assume everyone just repeats their attacks unless otherwise noted.

The battle commences, Althior quickly delivers and Ether core to Bellanotte who immediately begins the rapid march inspiring the heroes spirits and making them fleet of foot. Arthur is set on the defensive as the dwarf unleashes blow upon blow. With each spell infused strike the Skirmisher finds himself growing slower as the Doomsayer's magic circumvents Arthur's mystical immunities. Hoke breaks his legs free before landing with a tremendous strike on the mage, the dragoon calls for Torc but the dragon is still far above them. Matthias scores a direct his on the Doomsayer with his cannon as Dyric follows up with two well placed crossbow shots. Althior drains a nostrum and fires a sphere of swirling shadow at the Founder. The Doomsayer swings his staff in a dizzying circle dealing out damage, dropping Chesterine and incapacitating Bellanotte in a tomb of stone. With a final spell the dwarf refreshes himself and suppresses all the magical effects in the room around him.

QM Note: Just as a heads up, as Arthur is *Immune to Magic*, Bellanotte's Battle Songs will have no effect upon him.

Enemy

Round 1 of Tomb Tussle
>Matthias vs. Doomsayer - Aim - 43 Damage
>Matthias - Does Nothing

Is there a reason Matthias did nothing for his second turn? I gave him an action....

Passive Special IV: Dispel Magic - The Doomsayer removes all negative effects from himself and from the party at the cost of 1 Ether each

OOC: As written, this passive shouldn't have removed any of the party's positive buffs, since it specifies negative effects; it also never says it actually comes into effect, since it doesn't specify when, so I'll take a wild guess and say that the way you wrote it is not the way you designed it and it should probably be reworded. xD

Also, unless I'm completely misunderstanding, there were 9 attacks targeted against the Doomsayer this Round (Matthias would have attacked since no one took damage before his second action), meaning the Doomsayer would only get 5 Free Hits, so Chesterine should still be up and Dyric not hit.

Also, really?  First battle back and you already throw this kind of hot garbage at me?  Really?  :cry_sad:  I guess the Heroica universe really does hate me...

Arthur glances at Bellanotte, wincing as she takes the false Doomsayer's hit.  "**** it, this isn't worth it.  Someone remedy Bellanotte, we need to leave."  Arthur throws a Smoke Bomb from the Front Row.

OOC: Also, defense reduction is not an effect (see the Sandy response a couple posts after), so thus should not be negatable by the 50-50 chance.

QM Note: Passive special fixed and clarified to be in line with how the round was run. Doomsayer has 15 attacks total, Quickened adds to the existing one attack, just like Hastened adds a second attack. Thus Chesterine is still down. Due to Simulacrum, Doomsayer now has 16 attacks. Welcome back, don't blame me, blame the one who decided to push the Doomsayer's buttons.  SP reduction fixed.

Atramor stumbles to the side, entirely taken aback by the fraud's intense flurry of attacks, knocking out Chesterine. Visibly, the gears in his head spin as he takes note of their target's excessive consumption of mana. A slow smile creeps onto his face.

"Got an idea, mates. Matthias, get Bellanotte outta that rock if ya' can; we're gonna need all the luck we've got for this - maybe ya' can help us out there, your....affair with Lady Luck goes back years if I remember right...Think you've got the right idea with that bomb Arthur, but maybe somethin' a bit stronger is in order; and if I were you, I'd aim for the eyes. This is the best chance we've got: we got chased out of the Hall, we got chased of the Hovels, I ain't runnin' one more damned step. Althior, get the darkest gem you've got, we gotta blind this little rat before he smashes us to pieces. And if ya' could speed me up Hoke, that'd be great. I've got a shiny new weapon just for him."

The rogue does the best he can to slip behind the Doomsayer in the commotion as he digs around in his cloak, swinging out the acutely dangerous-looking Brain Drill, whirring viciously as he aims at the deceiver's skull from the front row as many times as he can.

"Don't worry, I promise this is gonna hurt like hel."

Arthur bites his lip as he notices his comatose cousin.  After a moment's pause, he nods.  "All right.  I trust you."  Swapping the smoke bomb for a bomb of another sort, he readies himself forthe opportune moment.

Arthur throws a Blind Bomb at the (false) Doomsayer from the Front Row, unless the (false) Doomsayer is already Blind, in which case he uses a Remedy on himself from the Front Row.
