Christmas MOC - opinions wanted!

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!

I worked on a small MOC for my winter village tonight. Inspiration came partly from the Lego Gingerbread House, but of course I went my own way with it. Now I'm looking for opinions. What do you guys think of it? Should I change anything?

Note: the plates on the inside of the building and the small hole in the wall are there to get rid of some wires, since I'm going to put a light inside. This way, you'll hardly see it.

This looks already pretty great. I can't really point out anything major - it just says YES! to me. :classic: Just a few tiny bits: I would try the window and door frames in white for a sugar-icing-look and maybe replace the slope pieces on the sugar-canes with this one. Apart from that, there is maybe some space for tooth pieces to mimic icicles.

As I said - just tiny bits I would play with!:classic:

Centre the pretzel with a 2x1 brick with a clip on the side.

Do you need the roof to open? If not, there are some better ways of covering the gaps.

@Count I actually did just center the brick, so that is solved! And not necessarily, but it does make access to some stuff in there easier.

Really like it. A nice assortment of coloured pieces used here to make areas pop out. Feels very festive. :classic:

You moc looks very nice.  My favorite part is the cookie tiles lining your walking path!  I would be happy with it as is.  As you asked for our opinions so I  will provide somethings I might change IMO only.

1) Might be a bit to colorful for the winter village theme.  You have a lot of bright different colors, most of Lego's WV sets to day have been darker shades.  Might look ok next to the Market.

2) Looks like your shop is more of a candy shop then bakery.  Suggest something other than a pretzel on the front if your building, maybe a wreath.

3) Why did you line your door with red, white and green studs? May look better if you match your colors around upstairs window.  Whole building may look more winter festive if you use the red. green and white colors instead of the red, yellow, blue, pink, etc.

4) Large candy canes.  Might look better if you go tile, white curve, red  curve.

Again the above comments are IMO only.  If they are helpful great.  If  you don't agree, good for you.  You have inspired me to build something similar.

@Blk69 Thanks for the feedback! It is indeed a candy store, but I'm not really sure what else to put on the building. A pretzel kind of worked :)

And I'll think about the other stuff. Thanks!

I would change the door to one of the curved ones and change the windows to lattice ones. They just seem more Christmassy to me.
