Pirate Diorama

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Here is my display I've built for an upcoming Lego show in my home town. All up it's 96 x 353 studs and by far the biggest I've ever built. I'll post a few pics here but to see more click on the links to my Flickr account. I'll hopefully get some better pics in a couple of weeks at the show.

I'd just like to credit Matthias Richiter for the skull design. I reverse engineered it from a picture I found a few years ago but I see he has now put it up on Lego Ideas so if you like it please give him your support! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/290285f9-b882-4dc3-b714-73aa73a4ae96/updates

Oooh! This looks great! Beautifully done building. Very detailed, organic and nicely layouted - and I appreciate the little jokes like the big angry Gorilla and the bluecoats. Things like that are the icing on the cake of a well done diorama for me.:classic: Looks all very alive and busy. Just great!

Fabulous diorama, sir! I particularly like the skull, the crane, and the mesoamerican temple, but the way you have created the water desires mention too - and lots of great details!

Also, who doesn't like to see bluecoats bashed? *cough cough* Oleon *cough cough*

Thanks for the kind words. I like throwing in plenty of Easter eggs into my convention displays and try not to make them too serious. I figure it gives people more to look at if they come for a second look.

@Bregir the water is just (a lot of) trans clear and trans light blue round 1x1 studs.

That looks really good. :classic: Great job on the skull and the rock work.

I love the colors in the landscape and the waves in the water.

There are pirate layouts with only baseplates. You have done a great job by using transparant pieces.

That looks like a lot of work.

The temple is a nice addition to the landscape.

I love all the different bits to look at ... How you've woven lego sets with custom creations gives the feel that anyone can do it with enough legos.

Epic! I always love those small hidden details in these huge displays and yours is particularly well built too! I also love the incorporated skull on the rock (which looks sufficiently menacing btw). Great job once again!

Oh, and tell that big gorilla of yours to put down that poor bluecoat else the mighty nation of Oleon will fight back!
