Hey everyone!

I'm happy to show you my new dune buggy MOC. Another dune buggy from me *sigh*, I know, but I tried to take a different approach by basing it off some blueprints:

Dune Buggy

I didn't follow them exactly, but I'm happy with how this model turned out, even though it is simple. There isn't much to say about it, but the functions are:

To achieve the shape I had to use illegal techniques and some flimsy connections. Hopefully this and the lack of functions make it obvious this isn't really a play model. But you can still steer it, push it around, and test the suspension.

I will most likely make a video, and possibly make an LDD file and Rebrickable page.

Some pics. And yes, I did not have the 21 and 22 panels in blue near the front wheels, or the blue connector at the top of the windshield.

Test with these wheels wrapped around the normal ones:

Simple but functional and has all that is needs. Do the axles in the rear slip out of the differential when they flex? I can see that being issue... a 1/2 stud slip will make the gear fall out.

Like it, simple, clean. As I am overloaded by motorized and RC models currently, I really appreciate this one!

Nice, you did great at replicating the blueprint!

I don't mind, if there is something you're good at building, then you should build it!

Nice old school buggy, but If you allow me, my favorite is something like this...

No problem, and this one is quite different from the others in following a blueprint in which you did an excellent job:thumbup:.

I find myself using wheels that are way out of scale (too big) over and over again, simply because it immediately adds to road presence.

Actually no, they don't. As long is push them back in every now and then, and don't apply too much pressure during use it's fine.

Ah, yes, the Meyers Manx, that's a classic!

I also like using this technique sometimes. Works great!

Yes, somehow when I picture myself a buggy I always see this classic, but well done with your moc

What and where are the illegal connections?

Some where I connected the sides of the body to the chassis.

The B-pillars are offset ...

800x600.jpg

and are offset .5 stud vertically. so the roof is at an angle and I am using a U-Joint for the steering.

800x600.jpg

There is also one at the back.

800x600.jpg

The sides of the front are stretched to fit the hood inside.

And bend the A-Arms in most of my models.
