jrx Posted August 30, 2017 (edited) After some month of building I like to show you my latest MOC: A Mercedes Zetros 6x6 truck. It is a ~ 1:13,5 scale model of the Mercedes Zetros 2733. All functions are Full RC. It is 69 cm long, 21 cm wide and has a height of 27,5 cm. The weight is 4553 g. As battery I use the BuWizz. The Zetros is remote controlled by 4 Sbricks via iPhone. Corrado Posted August 30, 2017 Looks fantastic. I love complex vehicles like this! 10/
Leonardo da Bricki Posted August 30, 2017 Awesome! I was considering making a Zetros.... But you just shot my idea down! incredible truck, it has so many functions.... Just one thing to say. Please clarify the suspension type, this is not independent suspension; I believe all three axles are multi-link live axle suspension.
dinojrx Posted August 31, 2017 (edited) Thx @Leonardo da Bricki! And thanks for your hint with the suspension. I'll clearify tomorrow what type of suspension it is exactly. My inspiration for the type I used was something like this: http://www.mercedes-benz.co.uk/content/unitedkingdom/mpc/mpc_unitedkingdom_website/en/home_mpc/truck/home/new_trucks/model_range/new_actros/New_Actros/facts/Chassis/suspension.html Edited August 31, 2017 by dinojrx

mocbuild101 Posted August 31, 2017 Wow, there's so much great stuff I could say about this, but I think it could be said with just on word: AMAZING!!!!
Superkoala Posted August 31, 2017 Nice big baby, and very good work. Congrat'
Aleh Posted August 31, 2017 Wow! Looks great, biiiig and very similar to the original model! Why it needs so many Sbricks? Does anybody have such amount of them? JRX, are you planning to create the BI?
Nebulaire Posted August 31, 2017 I'm impressed by this moc, well done !
jrx Posted August 31, 2017 Thank you all for your nice words! Thx a lot! @Leonardo da Bricki After looking through wikipedia and some pics I'm sure you're right. I changed the description. Thank you for mentioning. Thanks to @Paknaloid for nominating the Zetros and me for the HoF! 1 hour ago, Aleh said: Why it needs so many Sbricks? Does anybody have such amount of them? JRX, are you planning to create the BI? I planned to use only two SBricks and a geaarbox to switch between two rows of pneumatic valves. But the gearbox was to big to integrate and I didn't needed so many pneumatic valves anymore so I switched to three Sbricks. Then @teflon mentioned in the BuWizz-Thread that the BuWizz could be used as battery. That's great as I could go from two Lego battery boxes to just one BuWizz. the Downside was, I couldn't power the lights without another controller. And so I had to order and integrate Sbrick No. 4. I'm not sure to create building instructions for the whole model. At the moment I have unfinished lxf of the cabin and the drive train. Maybe I will play around with LDD and Stud.io later this year. So it's not sure that I'll make BI at all. To complete the picture of my truck here's a screenshot of the Sbrick profile I made: P.S. Sorry for posting with two accounts. I forgot about the second one but not my phone. I filled it in and I didn't expected this.
suffocation Posted August 31, 2017 Simply mind-blowing. I have a couple of questions: - Do the turning signals and emergency lights flash thanks to the Buwizz controller or did you use Sariel's switch system? - Have you got any other pictures of the front axle? I'm amazed that you managed to work planetary portal axles, steering and diff lock into so little space!
jrx Posted August 31, 2017 (edited) Thx @suffocation! The turn signals are controlled by the sbricks. I put together three simple sequences - one for left, one for right, and one for the emergency lights. The good thing is, you can control one channel by different sequences. You can see some more pics on my Flickr channel in the album "ProjectZ". The front axle was a real challenge and I'm not fully satisfied with my solution. One day I'll construct a better version :) Edited August 31, 2017 by jrx
MajklSpajkl Posted August 31, 2017 OMG! This is totaly amazing! Something I was dreaming to achieve with my MAN M1000 a couple of years ago but failed. Indeed this beast deserves a HOF! So many functions and all remote I looked through your gallery but could find a clear enough photo of the planetary wheel hubs. Do you have any? That S-Brick profile is really intimidating :-)
Aleh Posted August 31, 2017 Nice and complex mechinisms! All that I respect in MOCs!
Lucio Switch Posted August 31, 2017 Really cool MOC. Really well shaped and works even very well!
1gor Posted August 31, 2017 (edited) Very good shaped moc. It is instantly recognizable as Mercedes Benz Zetros. This configuration is mostly used with crane. The only thing that I can say is not characterized is portal axles, Last version with turntables as what is more suitable to represent real truck. Turntable can also look like drum brake from original truck Edited August 31, 2017 by I_Igor
jrx Posted August 31, 2017 Thx to you all :) @MajklSpajkl + @I_Igor I just uploaded a more detailed view an my axes:
kbalage Posted August 31, 2017 A very impressive MOC with amazing level of details, congratulations! I'm just curious - I saw your other video where you mentioned that using XL motors was not as effective as the buggies, did you use 4 XLs previously with the same drivetrain? It's hard to believe that the geard down buggy motors would provide better climbing abilities than the XLs.
Edwin Korstanje Posted August 31, 2017 Extreem great model with a ton of functions. stunning work @jrx
jrx Posted August 31, 2017 Thank you all so much! It's great to get such fantastic feedback. @kbalage Can't tell you exactly. But it was lot easier to integrate four buggy motors powering the drive train.
1gor Posted August 31, 2017 2 hours ago, jrx said: Thx to you all :) @MajklSpajkl + @I_Igor I just uploaded a more detailed view an my axes: It is nice model but portal axles belong to Unimog . I assume that you have no other choice but to use portal axle to make 1:3 down gearing from motor... Speaking of Unimog; my Unimog looks like dwarf near your Zetros
