MOC - Modular Gas Station

Recommended Posts

Number two in my modular phase of my AFOL life now and it's like the title says "Gas Station".

I chose Octan as this is designed to fit in the Lego world, not the real world.

The forecourt has two pumps and a tall light post to illuminate the whole forecourt of this gas station.

Here in the above image we can see the side entrance near a typical car jack of the period.

Shelves will cans of oil and fluids, spare parts in the clear glass counter, rack of tyres (tires) and a battery stand.

There will be more modulars of different sizes coming over the next few months.

This is great! The gas pumps are fantastic!

Thank you, it took almost a week to design them - I still need to fill in the clear windows.

So simple. So nice.

I may have to uh, 'borrow' the lamp post idea.

Thank you 'archieg', you may indeed borrow any of my ideas.

Looks great, I really like the island. Have you considered small bumpers to stop a car from hitting the pumps.

Thank you my friend, actually those things are a late 20th century thing and since the modular theme seems to be retro early to mid 20th century I skipped them.

That depends. If you go back and look at Fire Brigade it had yellow bumpers.

Yeah, but I use old photographs I find online, I go for period realism if I can.

Perfect little gas station and it really has a vintage feel from the 40s or 50s.

Thank you very much, the 1930's to 1940's era was where I was heading towards in design.

Please keep a peak at my hardware store as well.

I forgot to post this the other day.......

I still have a sticker to produce and apply to the billboard but I hope the 3-D effect works ?

Note also my take on a period hoist, what does everyone think ?

It's sitting at 68 supporters in 10 days, so still away to go for that full year on Ideas.

Fantastic little retro gas station. The details really complete it like the tire pressure hose and fluids and tire rack inside. Perfect choice of minifigure and the brick built large battery and use of technic wheel and tire for signage is great too. Great use of parts and colors as well.

I don't like the brand Octan very much but I love the old style you have used for this gas station!

Oh, that's nice. I like that billboard with that huge tire and battery. Simple but very impressive!

Thanks, I had never seen anyone try this idea in Lego before so I thought why not ?

Back in the 1920's/1930's billboards started to have moving parts or pieces sticking out of them to catch peoples attention.
