it's a nod to all those people who complain about insturctions and specialised parts and you can't build anything with modern lego and back in the good old days you used your imagination...

Yeah, it's the 60th anniversary of Lego bricks, not of Castle/Space/Pirates/Town minifig themes.

That limited edition micro scale giveaway is a nice gesture but not really gonna "do it" for the afols. A 40th anniversary remake (totally updated) of the yellow castle, 30th of the pirate ship etc would hit the spot, will they do it? Maybe.

Exactly.  It's celebrating the Brick.  But it's the 40th anniversary of the minifigure.  Maybe in 10 years we can expect a nice remake for the 50th.

It is easy to see now where the rumour of a city, space, castle and pirates set came from  Unfortunately they did not each get their minifig sized set, but all in one microbuild set, while the rest of the sets turned out to be just random bricks :hmpf_bad:

And sadly a bit of a testament to not searching out or getting excited about early hints & rumours

Backs of boxes with part lists.

Well, they look like a small step up from your usual assortment of bricks, with a few specialized parts and minifigure components.

I do wonder though if any of the assortments chosen for these sets were thought out, or if these are simply collections of bricks from what Lego already currently has on hand. :def_shrug:

375 Castle looks really good.  They are all well done.

Still, something with minifigures would have been appreciated.

Thanks for the close ups!! Ive been trying to see what was going on with the airport shuttle. Kind of an odd pick being that its a large set consisting of track that can't be duplicated in a mini build or at least Lego didn't. Either way I NEED this set. Cant wait for it.

The micro rendition of the LL928 in this set isn't bad, but it certainly doesn't compare to the one we saw in that 2015 DK Visual History book.

Exactly. "Let's do something that we recently did, but worse" doesn't seem like the greatest idea.

First Order AT-ST...

It seems to me they think it is the greatest idea

40th anniversary of classic space and we get some micorcrud - Lego need to remember where they're from rather than chase the Disney dollar.

These are beautiful.  I cannot wait to own this set.  I have three out of four of the vintage sets boxed/complete/mint.  I still need 6399 Airport Shuttle.

I would have thought they would have picked 6990 Futuron Monorail (1987) instead of the Airport Shuttle; however, they probably did not want to feature two Space theme sets out of four.  The Futuron Monorail has always been more iconic to me than the Airport Shuttle.

I was thinking the same thing! The Futuron Monorail was by far the poster child of that generation.

Is the 60th anniversary plate in this set the same as in the other “Creator”-like sets?

Is there anything remotely Exclusive with this set that I’m not seeing, because it looks like aside from the packaging, everything inside can be made with what you’d likely have on hand?

That is the best explanation for the BBT sets.

But 2018 is also the 40th anniversary of the Town line. Will TLG celebrate it? That is the question. It seems TLG only put "easter eggs" in some sets :

  • this year Creator rollercoaster is inspired by classic pirates theme
  • the Collectable Minifigures 18 serie will include a classic policeman like the one in the 1978 set 600 (and this set will be printed on a special 1x2 tile with the minifigure
  • maybe a car inspired by the 6634 Stock Car in the Fallingwater set...

One of my major wish (after a Creator Expert Rollercoaster) is a new town plan including updates of classic sets like these ones :

Those early Town sets were awesome!!!

Yes, it is the same, just put on a red 2x4 brick.
