[COR - FB] Visiting Tortuga

Recommended Posts

After Captain Benjamin Morgan barged in on the Malto peace talks in a rather bold move, introducing himself as representative of the socalled Sea Rats, Montoya had agreed to meet.

Having seen to the evacuation of the citizens of Malto, he had taken ship to Tortuga, and was now disembarking at a small pier. As promised, and as usual, he travelled with no guards, only accompanied by his assistant, young mr. Baker. Some had expressed some concern that he should go unescorted to meet a character as... renowned as Captain Benjamin Morgan.

The pier belonged to a small guesthouse. Montoya figured he could get a room for the night, and ask around for the Captain himself. And then there was nothing left to do but wait and see if Captain Benjamin Morgan would show up...

A small build for Tortuga. I will not license it, but if they settlement wants to, I think it is a fine small artisan.

Sand green is becoming a signature for you I think - I like it and need to get more bricks! The way you did the cut out is quite clever and I like the way it allows for a full interior without detracting from the buildings profile. The discarded (rum) bottles give what I think is a real sea rats feel. No Corrish settlement would have rubbish scattered over the beach like that! This build is a great example of the way you  demonstrate that you can use all relatively simple techniques and a smaller piece count yet still produce a really good looking MOC - great work!

No reason for becoming abusive. As long as you don't show me a working sewerage in a Corlandish town, I refuse to believe the common people of your nation are any more hygiene concious than the average Sea Rat. At least not significantly.

A neat building! What I like in special is that the house is resting on stilts. That is exactly what I had in mind for Tortuga, since the water level is considerably fluctuating. So I can tell that you put much thinking into it. What I don't like that much is that window technique. That's nothing about you in special, these are present in many builds. I simply miss mullion and transom in them. And a frame.

Now I'm eager to receive Don Montoya. If you have any certain topics to discuss, please let me know.

Nice build. The cut-away technique is perfect here, and having the building up on stilts is appropriate for this island. Nice chandelier, and the railing along the dock is a nice feature. All around .

And I, too, am envious of your sand green bricks. :pir-grin:

It wasn't meant to be abusive, I was just implying that the citizens of Tortuga are enjoying their rum! Also poking fun at the Corrish love of neatness and order... :pir_laugh2:

I like the pier and the small house, it's also great to see that you've added so much details in a relatively reduced space.

Well, this is a fascinating turn of events (and nice little MOC, don't get me wrong).  Henceforth, let no man say that Don Montoya is craven; he has come alone as promised and proved beyond doubt that he is a man of his word.

...

I say we kidnap him and hold him for ransom. :pir-grin:

Thanks - and most of my sand green bricks are from the haunted house, a set incredible full of useful bricks! :)

This was a a fairly simple build to progress the story, but I do try to maintain a certain quality. And while I love intricate builds with interesting techniques, I also appreciate the simple elegance of the Lego Brick. :)

Sewerage, you say?

The stilts? Yes, that was not a lucky coincidence but the result of careful research... :pir-look:

Montoya has kept his side of the bargain and showed up - how will Morgan react?

(And how do we run eventual talks? Write them in a pm together, like I did with Elos, or simply ping pong back and forth in public, like the Malto peace talks?

Thanks, Captain! Happy someone noticed the chandelier - one wonders where they have stolen it! :)

And yes, sand green is great! I only wish I had more diverse bricks in the colour, as I think it would be great for ships. :)

Brave or stupid? ;) Montoya is a man of his word and never was a coward! ;)

I did consider the risk of kidnapping. And as long as you don't kill off Montoya, I am willing to take the consequences of his actions. I am certain that no matter what Captain Morgan (or someone else) comes up with, we will probably have fun, which is really what this should be all about. I've had more fun with the Malto incident and the following story than with licensing builds in the EGS... :P

And while Montoya only has his life/freedom to lose, I believe you Sea Rats have a lot more at stake - whether you are to be trusted, follow diplomatic convention, etc. Also, I doubt Corrington will be happy to see its diplomats ill-treated... ;) (Of course, we will not judge a whole faction for the acts of a single criminal, but Morgan did guarantee Montoya's safety... ;)

I am inclined to agree - But Montoya will be right pissed! :P

Anyone who dares to cause Captain Morgan's guest discomfort will earn himself a hook.

Bregir, I will come back to you about the details soon.
