2018 City Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Recommended Posts

- Arctic seems pretty lame as we just got it not too long ago. I'll probably only pick up the smaller ones.

- Didn't really care for the last train wave, but this one has me interested. Hoping to get at least the station and/or the new passenger train.

- FINALLY A NEW HOSPITAL!

- Outdoor adventures seems interesting. I have also yet to pick up the beach people set.

- I hope that at least one of the conf. sets is a town square set of some kind. We're overdue for a new set that features a few buildings.

Thank you very much for the set lists, Brick Lover and whung! :classic:

An Outdoor Adventures People Pack sounds great:thumbup: I hope that TLG learned something from the critics about the contens of the Beach Pack and that they'll now include more interesting accessory and mainly new minifig torsos and heads. And I wish there'll be a tent included.

A new hospital? Hm ... we did get one in the Friends theme already last year and that one didn't look too girlish but in contrast big and very detailed. I'm sceptical about whether the City version will compete against it. At least it's more or less sure that we'll finally see a new ambulance - hopefully and big and detailed one like the one from 2012.

My guesses on the not yet named and even the not yet confirmed sets:

60186 - some sort of city center (possibly as exclusive set)

10189 - really no idea; Could it even be that they push it back to 2019?

60196 - exclusive Arcitc set (maybe ice breaker)

69198 - cargo train

60199 - train station

60200 - rail crossing

60203 - (big and detailed) ambulance

I was hoping the new Hot Dog Stand poly set (30356) would have a wide release but it looks like it will be a promotional item. It doesn't register on the American Lego site but it does on the UK site.

60198 is a planned $300 set. If it is a cargo train hopefully its huge. I was thinking it may be a train station. A very large train station.

$300!!! Wow that's steep. I've taken up HO Scale models and I must say I'd rather buy a functioning sound locomotive for that price and still have money left over to give it a few train cars. We'll really wait and see on that one.

Considering the last cargo trains (the one with the blue diesel locomotive and the other one with the red diesel) have US RRPs of $200, a $300 cargo train would need to have a fair bit more brick content to be worth it at that price.

French toy shop Cmonpremier.com Paris (seems the same with Both to be Kids) confirmed that 60198 is the Cargo Train.

How exciting! Do you think that  250€ price is accurate? Regional? Or too early to know?

So here is some news. The artic theme is different! According to the brick show, the artic theme goes prehistoric! 60193 has a saber tooth tiger stuck in ice, 60195 has a wooly mammoth!

*oh2*!

That sounds like it might be the best City theme in years. Even better than the Jungle one last year

To make it even better, both are new molds and the wooly mammoth mold could be used for a new elephant in the future

Ooh, now those sound like they might be good. Though I am curious as to how the 'stuck in ice' thing will work; will it be the animal moulds with a brick-built prison of trans blue bricks built around them? Or something more specialised? Because a mammoth would be a big thing for something like that; they might have to make cliff face pieces in trans blue. And those would be excellent additions to my Winter Village.

I think the mould would be like inside a cave or something. So, it would be a play feature to pull one of the walls and reveal the mammoth inside

But I wonder if they will be all white/light blue colored

The animals? The animals are regular colors ie wooly mammoth is brown

No, the walls of the cave. That way they'd look like ice.

You're probably right. It'll still be cool. :)

Not the best one, but very likely one of the best City themes:

When you watch the Brick Show, you know that there'll be a bunch of vehicles included, but only a small station. That's really bad.

But I really like TLG for not repeating the old and boring "digging out crystals"-stuff, but bringing a prehistorical aspect to the theme. Mammoth and saber tooth tiger sound amazing! Plus we already know that there'll be an orca included.:thumbup::thumbup:

Even if I didn't buy the sets, I for sure will buy the animals.

Btw: For those who got the caveman and cavewoman as CMF or promos some time back, I could imagine a nice prehistoric scenerey together with mammoth and sable tooth tiger.

So perhaps Safari Exploration in 2019/2020/2021? That would be amazing!

A sabertooth and mammoth. Just needs a giant sloth. No in all seriousness, i’m pleasantly surprised! Looking forward to see these sets!

You took the words right out of my keyboard!

Now I am even more hyped for this theme, and will have to hunt down the cave-people CMF figs in anticipation.

We are getting at the minimum 4 different types of big animals, wooly mammoth, polar bear, orca, and saber tooth tiger. This might be a record for a city line

I was not at all expecting this from the Arctic subtheme. *huh* :oh3:

But honestly, I LOVE it, as how else would we have plausibly expected to see Lego introduce both those creatures within a existing theme? But having said that, it's ironic, as I was just speculating only a little while ago that we could hypothetically see the introduction of both animals from a speculative Ice Age theme, based upon that franchise of animated movies that Disney had acquired from their Fox acquisition.

But who knew that they were actually right around the corner? :shrug_oh_well:

Have you seen pictures? Maybe it is a normal elephant in brown just with a different head and tusks if we are lucky

Hopefully soon! Only a male lion head, make the horse in zebra colours and a elephant from the reusable parts from the mammoth and we are almost there

We got 4 in the jungle last year, depends on how you define different, but it is a very good trend  They will also include a husky in some of the sets and maybe a different animal frozen in the ice in set 60192
