That's why I said rumour, and rumour may be misleading, we thought the Eslandolans were begging for the return for the ships.:pir_laugh2:

To Felipe de la Manzana

My dear sir,

It is with the greatest pleasure that I am in a position to make arrangements for the return of your rightful property. Under normal circumstances, we would immediately offer a prize fee similar to that of licensing cost. However, currently, the Royal Navy is engaged throughout Terra Nova. As you are certainly aware, Corrington is at war with the Empire of the Lotus in the Far East, where many ships are engaged in securing Halosian interests and where the Royal Navy has suffered some grievous losses. At the same time, our tireless and persistent battle against piracy of any kind invests many naval vessels in patrols and escorts from Arlinsport to Spudkirk.

Hence, as you may deduce, hulls, particularly warships, come at a premium, and Rear-Admiral Fletcher has given instructions that this is to be taken into consideration in all matters pertaining to prizes. Nonetheless, it is not in Her Majesty's habit to appropriate the property of others, least of all those of our Eslandian friends, however, I beg you understand our position: Month after month, the Royal Navy has patrolled the seas, and apart from a few significant sorties of late from your fleet, we have been largely alone in keeping the sea lanes safe. Risk, losses, and costs have been ours alone, while rewards from our successes have been shared widely by all who benefit from decreased risks of navigating these waters.

Until now, we have kept our grievances to ourselves, but even the proudest and strongest must sometimes face impossible odds and ask that others take their part of the responsibility.

Thus, it shall be my pleasure to arrange return of your vessels at the normal prize fee, if in return your Colonial Assembly can offer suitable, lasting commitments to stand by your Corlander brethren against piracy with a force equivalent to or exceeding the three vessels in question. It is our hope that you will bring this situation to the Colonial Assembly and champion our cause, to return with us a suitable arrangement for the common benefit of all in favour of the safe navigation of Terra Nova.

At your service

To Don Isaac Montoya, Consul, Corrington

My dear sir,

I write to you in response to your letter of June 10 to Felipe de la Manzana. Eslandola’s Colonial Council has taken up the issue of our new approach to anti-piracy efforts, and the council has affirmed that, especially in light of our recent successes you may have read about in the Kings Port Advertiser, we intend to continue such efforts to ensure the safe navigation of the Brick Seas for all.

I also add my personal compliments on your navy’s recent efforts around Terraversa, especially regarding the pirate LeColeon.

With this assurance as to our commitment to anti-piracy efforts, I hope this letter finds you so inclined to follow through on your offer to de la Manzana to help him repatriate the ships The Lady Hawk, The Raenette, and Lady of Madrice II.

Sincerely,

Inspired by Oleon's Military Encyclopaedia, I decided to do a small scene with some cavalry I made up for an upcoming MOC.

Presenting the 2nd Regiment of Life Guards AKA 'The Blood Dragoons'.

Pretty sure the credit for the torso use goes to @Khorne or maybe @Ross Fisher??? I saw it some time ago in a MOC but now can't find it to reference.

Excellent vignette so far and I am really looking forward to watching your upcoming moc.

I am also particularly glad that our collective Grand Military Encyclopedia of Oleon inspired more builders.

Honourable Gentlemen,

It is with the greatest pleasure that I read you letter, and I shall take your words as gentlemen that we shall fight as brothers in the endeavour for safe navigation of the Brick Seas. You may consider the ships released for their rightful owner, and I shall expect the prize fees to be transferred to Corrington's accounts at your convenience. As stated earlier, we ask only the standard prize fee (licensing costs).

The situation here on Terraversa is still unstable, though, and I still fret for the absence of my friend, Captain Sir Jno. Cooke, who was last known to have been investigating the insurgence in Nola Mar. It is my hope that our Eslandian friends keep a keen eye on developments here. I hope we shall not need to draw swords together, but fear that may be a vain hope.

Your servant

Don Isaac Montoya

Definitely an inspiring thread! I've begun work on small vignettes to showcase the soldiers of my own Black Wolf Company, as it expands and grows. Thanks again!

I have the pleasure and privilege of introducing to you, Edmund Babbington, M.D. Most recently graduated from medical school on the mainland. Dr. Babbington has found himself at the top of his class in grades but at the bottom in wealth. He has therefore secured a personal loan and a grant and is looking to make his way in the colonies.

With the money he has secured, he is hoping to start a medical practice in one of the colonies. He secured passage on a ship and packed as many of the latest medical devices and medicines as he was able to secure.

He has heard of many new discoveries in the field of Natural Philosophy and hopes he can contribute equally to the field of Medicine. Dr. Babbington is hoping to study the diseases of the new world, explore, and make a home for himself in Corrington's colonies.

Welcome on board, @Edmund Babbington! Even though you are in a different faction, do not hesitate to ask "older" players for tips, ideas or suggestions, regardless of "in-game nationality".

Nice minifig and introductory story... with lots of cutlass wounds and tropical fevers everywhere, a good physician is more than welcome in the Brick Seas!

Welcome to Corrington @Edmund Babbington It will be nice to have character dedicated to medicine in our glorious faction. As Keymonus says, if you have any questions feel free to reach out - the rules can be rather complex when you start but the great thing is that you can participate as much or as little as you like.

A good starting point is the guide here. Once you have 5 posts I can add you to our faction PM for all our 'secret' planning and discussion.

All: Also a small teaser from my next upcoming build!

Thank you all for the welcome :)

(I have read through the rules. As I understand it, I get both a free license for a small building and either a class 1 or 2 ship license?)

(I am working on the MOC to represent the doctor's office. Do I need to speak to someone about which town I can place the building in? )

That's correct yes.

Not really, just pick a Corrie settlement that appeals to you. A list of the established settlements can be found at the bottom of the post here

We are having an internal drive to boost Port Raleigh at the moment, but any settlement would really work.  If you wanted somewhere less established (more frontier-like) then Spudkirk would be a good choice. Lastly; it's just been raided by dastardly pirates (so a doctor would probably come in handy) and has a unique environment (mangrove swamps), but Stormhaven could badly use some love.

Yeah !! Another doctor, fresh out of Corrington ! I have a special place among Sea Rats in store for you.

Just a thread you should have a look to :

As you're a doctor, you are authorized to make your way to Tortuga and to build here (if you want), your own ships are also free to dock (in Tortuga) with complete safety.

Welcome to the brick Seas, colleague.
