[MOC] Legoland Movie Theater

A Lego model based on a real movie theater in Ashland, Virginia.  This is my first minifigure-scale building.  Second building overall.  I build Model Team (now Creator) vehicles mostly.

• 1,080 trans-clear 1x1 tiles

• 260 lights with 13 AA batteries
• 69 studs tall
• Weighs 19.4 pounds
• Six months to build

 Will be shown in public for the first time at Brickfair Virginia in one month.

An excellent replica, I love the lighting under the canopy. Has it got an interior?
Also, you missed the bikes off the top of the canopy!

Thanks.  It has a simple interior, yes.  Just a foyer leading up to four more doors with large Lego Movie posters on each side, all lit up.  It looks a lot blue-er than I expected it to.  I thought it looked not-so-great in the pictures, but one of them above includes one.  Here's a better view though:

The majority of the interior is a web of wiring, batteries, and a strong internal structural Technic frame.

There are also two compartments, one on each side like so:

This is also where I keep a couple bicycles, for when this gets displayed in Ashland later this year.  For Brickfair, they will not be included.

Mind blowing build! Well done, a very faithful recreation. Are the lights on a cycle or can you control what they do and when?

I love how the lighting on the front of the canopy looks like the old school neon signs.

There are on a cycle of different patterns in the video.  I can also show just one of the patterns, or leave them all on continuously, as well as adjust the brightness, with a remote control.  These are ordinary, cheap Christmas lights.  I was going to have some custom lighting made with better patterns.  But it would have cost twenty, thirty, who-knows-how-much more than what I have here.

This is really stunning. Great work on this faithful recreation!

Looks really impressive. You captured the look of the original perfectly. I like the entrance section with the large billboards above most. They just are perfect urban art deco. Wonderful colour choice as well. 

A bit a pity that the interior is so basic, but regarding the sheer size of the build, I can understand why. Personally I would have chosen to make it less tall but use the material for one or two actual auditoriums.
